Guest guest
Hi Lena,So after you strain your Kefir, you start a new container with the gains? Making a new batch of 24 oz? And then use all the Kefir you strained that day? Did I get this right? Well I tried the 8oz, mixed in my Whey Protein powder and slugged it down just before bedtime... Big stomach ache... :-( I think I have to scale up on this! I normally drink 4 oz sipping it throughout the day.. I forgot about adding in Maple syrup!! I have some " B " grade on hand, I will try that.. I really don't mind the tartness, but maybe this is what caused my stomach ache... It was very tart! Thanks,Jim Earthing Message List Reply | Delete Message #24842 of 24881 < Prev | Next > Re: Re: OT: L-Tryptophan and Kefir at the same time (was Sleep issues (was) Earthing Hi Jim, I culture my kefir in a 24oz container, for 24 hours. In the morning, I strain it, put 8oz aside on the counter in a covered jar for bedtime and the rest gets blended with DE, lecithin granules, a banana and whatever berries i might have (or not) for my breakfast smoothie. I used to add maple syrup to the night kefir, as it really made a difference in helping sleep (don't know why; experimented with, without, etc.) As sleep became less of a problem, I stopped the M.S. to reduce calories.Sometimes, it the day's been warm and the standing kefir has become a bit more tart, I add a little xylitol, maybe some cardamom. It's an excellent probiotic, often my only one, although I take C.O.T. if I've been eating more sugar that I should. I've stocked up on some good probiotics to take on the road if kefir-culturing gets disrupted. Be well,Léna Hi Lena,I drink about 4 oz of Kefir during the day, so maybe I need to crank up theounces and take just before bedtime... Milk also has L-Tryptophan in it,so this only makes sense taking it late at night... I no longer get up to pee much, but pain does awaken me often.. I could goto a longer acting opiate, but they don't mute the pain as well for me duringthe day.. When we get normal sleep, Lyme symptoms are far more muted with some going away completely! I think some Lyme symptoms are built in becauseso many have insomnia.. When my insomnia stopped for 22 months, nodoubts I felt better.. Insomnia makes all Lyme symptoms worse I believe.. I take all of my relaxing supps late at night, but have cut some out that I am not supposed to use while I am doing this fatigue study.. Basicallynothing that causes energy or nothing that causes sleep, but LT is okay as it is natual.. Things like L-Theanine I would take if I awoke and couldnot fall back asleep, this is a very relaxing supp, but it is one I can't takeduring the study... How many Kefir jars do you keep? I am using one, some say it is easier using two as the kefir can ferment longer.. What do you think? Is there really " sanity " after Lyme... :-)))Jim
