LOL

I love the way you say you are owned by the animals.

Now if I can ask without looking to stupid.... What is

a budgie?

And hey, if you can count your hubby as a pet, can I

count my 7-yr-old? LOL

If I can't serve as a good example, then I guess I'll just have to serve as a

horrible warning.

Not a judgement just my opinion, which I always seem to get into trouble for.You are a braver person than I am. Working with dogs for so many years I won't have one that bites one of my kids. But that is just me....Debi Ritter wrote:

My Westie is like Norma described. He’s almost always with myself or my husband and if we have a stray kitten, he guards them by laying near them and lets them use him as a comfort. They all love his fur and kneed and snuggle into him. He sticks with me on the couch, or he lays on my toes under my desk. When my husband goes to ed he stays with me until all hours of the morning when I finally call for him to go to bed with me. He used to spend a little more time with my husband until I started feeling terrible and he must sense that I need him. Even if I get busy and don’t pay any attention to him, he waits for me to sit and quietly settles inn beside me.

He’s naughty sometimes in that he weasels food off the table or from my 3-year-old and he barks outside while tearing into my garden trying to see the neighbor’s dog. But on the whole, he’s sweet and loyal. Yesterday he lightly bit my son which is what he does only if he’s so trapped and hurting he can’t get out. Usually he weasels out of it and runs away to hide. So I think in three boys and three years he’s bitten three times total. I bellowed at him and he didn’t scamper or cower away, he came over to “see if Jack was ok” and to nuzzle into him.

April, I had a halfway house keeping Patagonians and goffins until they could go to new homes. The conures were impressive but oh my gosh the voices, worse than my lory (rip) but so lovely. All three Goffins, remind me of cotton candy went into a breeding program with the Cincinnati zoo.

I used to be really up to date on tiels. Buy that was 15 years ago before the white faced was widely available. Now I am stumped. For instance I know pied is recessive, So what do I get if I cross a white faced cock to a whitefaced, solid white, dark eyed hen?

I don't even know what that mutation is called I put a few little pics in the groups photo groups marked Debi's Dolls.

If you can tell me what mutation that hen is..I would be a happy camper. Have you bred budgies before? I need to get in touch with some breeders not to far from me that I can include in a breeding program. It is documented and needs one more univercity study and I am very excited. I guess you are very well versed about the INO mutations. THe green form which is yellow or Lutino, and the blue form which as you know is albino, with an absence of color. These birds have a sex linked gene that goes from father to daugther and has 10% color saturation in their feathers.

If you were curious I have sent some feathers to different people in the mail. Kind of cool cause when these beauties are on the cover of Bird Talk it sould be awesome to have a few feathers in your house from my little 's angels. Tell me what you think fo the pics? Thanks Debi & zoo crew~ElfynFyre~ wrote:

Hi,

I just had to join in here with my pets. I am owned by 5 dogs, (4 Cavalier King Spaniels, 1 Boston Terrier) One Cavalier Holly is a rescue dog who predicts my seizures! Very amazing. I rescued her and now she has rescued me.

3 Persian cats, 1 African Grey parrot, A breeding flock of budgies, and smaller flock of Cockatiels, 40 pet rats, 10 pet mice, one wildlife resciued cardinal, one black widow spider, and a darling husband.

I was a vet tech for many years and now sing for a living, and the animals never were a burden until the past few years. And I have the added stress of having discovered a new mutation of Budgie that requires study and hard work on my part so I can be published. Debi YounceClosson's wrote:

Hi Dix,

I have three pets. Two dogs named Rosie (cockerspaniel/terrier) and Alaska ( huskey/black lab) Rosie follows me around everywhere and jumps up beside me when I'm sitting in the livingroom chair watching t.v. When I get up at 5:30 am. to have breakfast with my husband she is always there begging for food. I say time to go back to bed and she scurries off to the bedroom where she sleeps with me. She's always available for comfort and to play with. No judgements from her. She is very sweet.
