Guest guest
Hi Kelli,....I have taken Humira for awhile, and have never experienced any of those symptoms. I have never heard of prescribing Benadryl for chest pains. I would think your doc would take you off the med, if it's causing chest pains. Have you thought about another rheumy? I am anxious to hear some opinions from others about your problem. I'm kind of stunned that a doctor isn't worried about your symptoms. Sorry that your going through a stressful time right now. You sure don't need extra stress, but know that it's not so easy to keep it away. Please take care, Tawny --- In , " Kelli " <highestexaulted@s...> wrote: > > > Hi everyone. Guest guest
Hey, thanks for responding. Um, I don't know if it's that he's not concerned or not, I think that he is. He just was gonna try me on it with the Benadryl. When I go back next week I'll tell him the latest and see what he says is the next step. I'll keep ya'll updated... Thanks for any future suggestions. Have A Joyful Day, Kelli > > > > > > Hi everyone. Guest guest
I had really good results with Humira and no side effects. It eventually stopped working which is why I came off it, but things were definitely a lot better when I was on it. Kathy F.
Guest guest
Dear , I don’t normally answer these emails about Humira, but you said you wanted the good and the bad as far as how we reacted to it. I only took it for one week. In that time, I thought I was starting to feel better, but basically I had a really bad reaction to the drug. I ended up with pneumonia and it took me almost 6 months to get over it. I ended up on 60mg of predinsone just so I could breathe. It was horrible. The other side effects I had were swollen glands and it also put me into early heart failure. The good thing was once I got off the drug, my heart was ok. I had to go through 2 echocardiograms and I still have trouble when I sleep at night and require the use of oxygen when I lie down. The good news is I reacted almost the same way to Enbrel, so I know these drugs are dangerous for me. It’s either the preservatives in the solution or something else that triggers such a strong reaction. I know that I’m not the norm, so don’t base your decision on me. I did find a few other people who developed heart problems from Humira and Enbrel though, so my advice is to watch for any signs of reactions. Even if it is something you wouldn’t consider as a big deal, be sure to tell your doctor about it ASAP. I almost took another dose of Enbrel thinking the side effects weren’t connected. Luckily, I got a hold of my doctor and they had me stop it. I don’t know what would have happened if I had continued to take it. Remember most people have a positive reaction, or no reaction at all. I wanted both of these drugs to work so badly since I had waited for ages to be approved and for a doctor to make the right diagnosis. At the time I took Enbrel and Humira, nothing was mentioned about heart failure. Now there are warnings on both drugs. Yet even with those bad reactions, I took another chance and tried Arava. It’s not a shot, but a pill and luckily I did really well on it. I’ve talked to people though who have had horrible reactions to Arava, so it’s a chance regardless what you take. Just be careful and watchful and I’m sure you’ll do ok. I hope I haven’t scared you away. Our disease is a hard one to treat and for me my life was pretty miserable before I found Arava. So it’s a decision that each of us have to make. Good luck and I hope you have nothing but success. Sincerely, Fran in Florida Hey everyone, I'm getting ready to start taking Humira and just wanted to know if anyones had any good or bad results with this specific medication. Just want to know what I'm getting myself into. I'm 26 and just recently diagnosed. I'm a massage therapist and this has effected my ability to work quite a bit. As of right now I'm only take Indometicin and some Vicodin for the pain. Anything advice would be appreciated!! Thanks everyone!! Guest guest
Thank you so much Fran for you info concerning Humira. I'm so sorry to hear the side effects that you had while on the medication. I guess it is always a risk when we're putting something new into are bodies. I'm not big on taking medication to begin with. I don't even like taking Asprin or Tylenol unless I have to, so going on some of these medications is a little scary for me. Thanks again for letting me know your experience with this drug. W. [Editor's Note: , you are right to approach this and all medicines with caution, however, stories such as Fran's are rare whereas severe damage from the progression of PA is not. I urge anyone who is thinking of taking ANY medication or over-the-counter " Health Food " to learn all they can about it and to listen to their bodies very closely once they begin to put something new and powerful inside them. Terrible things can happen. Good luck with Humira. Hope it works as well for you as it has for many of us.
