Guest guest
Faith, I think any major traumatic event can trigger changes in our bodies. To include weightloss surgery, after doing all the things that medical science says should be good for us and should make us feel better. I have a close friend that was seriously contemplating gastric bypass procedure to loose weight since she had a heart atack in her late 30s. She also suffers from clinical depression as well. Her doctors say absolutely NO!!! The major chemical and metabolic upheaval that the body must undergo post op would send her in a terrible spiral down into a deep depression and could possible end up in death. I know many of my friends that chose a gastric bypass procedure dealt with serious depression, mood changes and major mood swings brought on by rapid weight loss. Some even got so bad that they had to be hospialized inpatient mental health. There are no magic pills or cures....but some combination of things tend to work better for some of us than others.
