Guest guest
No the Melatonin no longer works for her. Just seems like things will work for a while and then they don't. Makes me wonder if they don't work or she is just not having a pain episode when they " appear " to be working. Benadryl works best thus far.. (i think?) but I don't no what the side effects to taking any of this stuff are...meaning long term. Mom to Marlee 16 mos. Lipomyelomeningocele, TSC AFO's, and the longest eyelashes I have ever seen! Also Mom to Macy 4 (fatty filum)..the future's first female president and 9 a good student, cheerleader and the best helper in the world! : 0 ) Re: Marlee/back pain? It is very possible that the reason she is doing this is because she is in Pain. As you well know, there could be other reasons as well, but this is definately a possiblity. Does she understand other things you tell her or ask her? If she does, then I would take it as reliable when you asked her what hurts and she pointed to her Back. I would imagine at 16 Months she does know if something hurts, it's just that she can't verbalize it. I mean, if she hit her Head, she would probably say Ow! and hold her Head. Don't dismiss what she is trying to communicate to you, just because she is soo young. Did Melatonin stop working? Benedryl did work for me, when I was in the Hospital. But I was taking it for another reason, and it helping with Sleeping was just a Plus. lol Spasms are also a possiblity. I was going to say " Growing Pains " , but that would be almost impossible for you to know if that is what it is. There is no Test for it, and she is definately too young to try and figure it out. Keep us updated. Me Nebraska, USA mymocha@... An example of my thinking she has pain is that once in a while she does not sleep well and jumps in her sleep. At times this is followed by writhing around and crying out in her sleep. When she is in one of these episodes this will go on ALL NIGHT! Last Sat night she did this and was very fussy all day Sun. I staggered doses of Tylenol and Motrin. This did not help. When I was dressing her for bed she was really fussing and I just asked her " what hurts " she put her hand on her back....I.I took her to the Dr on Mon and he ordered an MRI for this Wed. We also have an appointment to see the nrsgn on Feb 2nd for her year! > ly follow up. My PCP has said to try benadryl at bedtime and if that doesn't work he will order diazapam for when she has this problem. He said he thinks she is having spasms. Does this sound right? Does anyone have any suggestions as to what could be going on or what to do about it? > Not Medical Advice. We Are Not Doctors. Need help with the list?
