my writing class teacher used to proof read for the paper.

hes retired.. he said you only use a hyphen..

in a sentence like she wore high-heeled shoes..

but if the sentence is she wore high heels..

there is no hyphen..

only when it is used as an adjective.. to shoes..

alone there is no hyphen

im sure it doesnt much matter..
