Hi . I wish I had some more specific advice for you. But I

wanted to say stay strong and dont let that lawyer take advantage of

you. You're his boss and you have a right to find someone better if

he's treating you like this, and not directly helping you.

I went through an almost 3 year eviction and dealing with lawyers

and I really almost lost my freaking mind too! Im so hesitant to get

a lawyer involved with my SSDI even if it speeds things up because I

swear for me its so much more stressful having someone else in

control, that can ask for any amount of money from me whenever they

please and I'm at their mercy to give it or go through the stress of

finding someone else. OR they only get paid if we settle so they're

willing to settle for anything to get paid & get me off their roles.

And I barely get anything out of it, they got paid and theyre happy.

I need to file bankruptcy but everything I read says not to do it

alone, get a lawyer. I called several and explained how I cannot

afford the $2K or more they want, and all but one immediately said

no discount, find someone else. Finaly I talk to one wo says he

understands how hard it can be financialy. Sounded like he would

work with me. He asked me a lot of personal info about the case, and

then quoted me $1800! I told him there's no way I can pay that and I

thought he was going to help me with a reduced rate. He said he

usually charges $3K for that's almost 50% off!

Banruptcy itself (to file alone) is also $500 and $100 for 2 credit

counseling classes (I wonder if they tell you how to pay your bills

off with zero income and an inability to work! I'm sure theyd just

tell me how to manage my money better, get more work etc. Things I

did until I couldnt earn money anymore) And I cant even afford that

so I just have to wait and see if they sue me.

Well, I ramble on! But stay strong and ((HUGS)) things have to get

better for all of us at some point :-)
