Guest guest
A little background. I have been in EMS for quite some time. I have worked for a few MICU 911 City/County services. I have never worked for a transfer/private service. Out of all of the EMS people I know I would classify about 25% of them falling into the category of true professional that do this job because they really want to help the community. The other 75% do the job because of one or more of the following: 1. The schedule 24-48 is pretty hard to beat 2. The excitement 3. Being able to say (I am a paramedic and answer 911 calls) 4. Getting to go to where the action is (fires, MVAs, Shootings) 5. Sleep at work 6. Relax from a real job 7. Because they can't believe someone is paying them to do this 8. Hey where else can you BBQ and watch movies all day 9. Money is not bad (some places) 10. Getting stuck in a rut. Now most of you here might not agree but if you really look at the people you know in EMS most of them fall into 1 of the 10 above, I know I do. Where else do people run around spouting off " We need to act like professionals " or " We will never be treated like professional if....) Well face the facts, 75% of us do our job for a selfish reason. _______________________________________________________________ Get Free Email and Do More On The Web.
