I need some help and I am reaching my wits end. Here's my situation : A week

ago, my glasses broke. We do not have insurance, nor can We even think about

insurance as we are on a limited income as my husband is the only one that is

working. I had to stop working outside of the house several years ago as my

arthritis has gotten to were I hurt on a constant basis…I am only now starting

to receive treatment for the arthritis after my diagnosis as a diabetic in July

allowed me to qualify for the medical clinic, where the medical treatment is

covered by the state for 1 year. They do have an eye clinic, however they only

do eye exams to make sure your eyes are healthy, they do not write prescriptions

or assist with getting glasses. I have called EVERYWHERE trying to find an

answer and there is none.

Eye doctors will not allow me to simply replace the frames, as it has been over

a year since I got my current pair. I do not qualify for our states Medicaid

program , as I have no children in the house. My appt with the arthritis clinic

isn't until December 8th--and the state will not look on me as disabled until I

can provide current doctor paperwork, and this is the only other qualifier. I

even wrote the lions club asking for help or referral to other programs and I

got a email from the president of the chapter saying that he was forwarding it

to someone who might help and I have heard nothing.

I feel so helpless…For us to buy the glasses we would have to not eat or pay

bills for two weeks, and that is just reality. Without my glasses I cant see

more than 1 foot in front of my face, which takes a good part of the world

away. Right now, duct tape and crazy glue are the only thing holding them

together… If anyone has any ideas as to who to contact I would greatly

appreciate any thoughts. I can't help but ask…where do you go for help when

there is nowhere to go?
