Hi

i hope you don't mind if i rant a little, i am upset with my

neurologist. She perscribed me pain meds on 3/22 oxycodone 5 mg with

a dosage of 1 or 2 every six hours for pain as needed, it was my

first visit after an mri that showed two disc herniations at c5/c6

and c6/c7 with spondylosis at both levels also, i was in terrible

pain when she perscribed it, on that friday i called and told her

that the meds were not killing the pain and i wasn't sleeping and

hadn't been for two weeks prior to originally seeing her on the 22nd

of march.

i didn't get her but spoke with her asst who told me nothing could be done til

monday when the doc would be back in. On monday she perscribed me oxycotin 20 mg

every 12 hours and to use the

oxycodone for breakthrough pain, which i had twice a day.

when i saw

her today after getting an emg and neuro conductivity test and asked

for more breakthrough pain she said i was using too many of them and

only gave me a perscription for a few more, i dont' see her again til

the 19 th of april which is two weeks away, basicially she gave me

enought to take one pill a day for breakthrough pain. i wake up in

bad pain every morning so i know this is not enough. she even

commented the first time i saw her how much pain she saw i was in.

i have been getting gradually better but still need 2-4 breakthough

pain pills aday on top of the oxycontin which i know time releases. I

don't think that i am abusing my breakthrough pain pills and don't

understand why she perscribes a dosage and when you follow it she

says i am using too much. she also has me on lyrica 450 mg a day which i think

is starting to help but still with the breakthrough pain a couple of times a

day, usually at work.

i manage an h and r block income tax office and we are very busy this time of

year. i just want to be able to function through the end of tax season which is

the 17th of april. then if needed i can lie in bed 24/7 which helps get the pain

to a tolerable level, but right now i need my breakthrough pain pills to be able

to function and get my job done..

it really pisses me off that i can function with the dosage she wrote

it for and then be told i am using too much. when the pain

breaksthrough i want to cry and can't sit let alone deal with unhappy

clients.

Sorry for ranting but this the only place i can vent with

people that understand what i am going through, any suggestions on

how to get it through to my doctor that i need the medication to

function, i am not abusing it, selling it or doing anything else that

i hear for reasons of not giving the right amount to a patient.

Thanks and lots of hugs to all of you
