Guest guest
Althea.. How do you uese scissors etc when you quilt. The love of my life is arts, craft and such. I am unable to do any of that now. I would love tohear some hints from you. Faith -------------- Original message -------------- Jane - I read about your heater problem and am so happy that it is fixed. The cold is so bad for all of us. I can't imagine you driving to work that way. I am so glad it is fixed. I am having a very bad day. I thought I was doing better and the weather has been so nice here the last 2 days that I thought I could go to the store and get the few things needed - toilet paper - lol I went to 4 stores and when I got home I just crashed. I can't even bring anything in from the truck. I hope that the pain pill and muscle relaxer kick in soon. I am sitting here in my easy chair typing away and hoping that the pain releases so I can get up and quilt. I should have known better then to have to go to so many stores and do so much walking but but but... I got the cat food, the toilet paper, the Downy. I got my cards to send out for Valentines Day - some material to finish my new cat quilt. Now to relax... I hope all are doing better then I am - where did this pain come from today. Pushed myself way to hard last week...but I honestly thought I was doing better and recovering. Say a small prayer for me that I haven't done myself too much damage and that I recuperate fast. I hate this disease. I really and truly want my life back - I want to be able to go go go but I guess I better just sit sit sit... Warm weather is going tonight and it will be cold again - maybe that is what is bothering me today the front coming in and I feel them before they get here. Well, from warm Oklahoma my thoughts and prayers go out to you all. Stay warm and comfortable and know that I am sending my warm fuzzie thoughts out to all of you. Guest guest
-- Dear Althea. I know how the pain is and how hard it is to get out and go to the grocery store. Sometimes I have to leave some things in the car and just take in fridge or freezer stuff. I am proud of you in the respect that you are active in your quilting projects. I bet you can do some really beautiful ones. I do my gardening, flower arranging and decorating some of the house differently or refinishing old furniture. I used to do all kinds of hand work but carpal tunnel stopped a lot of that. I had surgery on my left hand, but until the right one really gets bad, I'm going to leave it alone. A friend of my is trying to get me to come to their knitting group, but they do all sorts of hand work. I have crocheted some cute hats and things cause its easier than knitting, but its been 25 years or more. I may get me a little pattern book on caps and things and go to the group so I will have someone to help me if I needed it (which I will). Nothing more, I can certainly enjoy the fellowship. When I quit playing tennis and golf, my friends just went on without me, so I could use some new friends. I also joined a group of Red Hatters. Its a group of older women that wear purple clothes and red hats and boas, or anything else thats purple, red and gaudy. LOL We meet once a month for lunch, don't have any committees, do nothing civic, cause we've done all that, so we just eat, visit, and gossip! LOL I need to get out more and by golly, I'm gonna do it!!!!! Enjoy your quilting...I especially love cats...in fact theres an Ole Maine Coon cat (black and beautiful) thats curled up on my desk and keeps his paw very near the keyboard so he can put in his two cents worth. Guest guest
FAith, I use a rotary cutter to cut my fabric and it at times is difficult but I don't give in. My hands are stiff to begin with but as I use them they loosen up. I don't cut much of anything with scissors - and I have a rotary cutter that is locked open when I am using it. I lock it closed when I am done with it. I do a lot of piecing on my sewing machine and the most difficult part I have there is my arms ache when they are held upwards for that long a time so I do about 15 minutes then I sit for 15 and read or watch tv...I pace myself all day long and actually get quite a bit done... Quilting and crafting is my passion and I just won't let this disease take that away from me. It hurts and I ache but I continue...I keep warm electric blankets around to wrap around me when I sit still - the heat gets into the bones and muscles and helps a lot. I don't know how I have been able to continue - the doctors are amazed that I still hand sew at all but I pray about it and I take my time and am not rushed in anything. I hope you find a way to continue with your crafts too. God bless, Althea
