Guest guest
Early December I started getting sick , it is like an RA bomb exploded in my body, Almost every joint in my body. ( knee, ankles, feet, hands.fingers, neck'shoulder and jaw. IT continues to this day. Very little relief from Celebrex. I have an appointment with the rheumatologist on the 26th. To all here, Could you all explain to me what you are like with this disease when you are not flairing? Do you still have some stiffness , swelling and pain? Or is it completely gone when you are not flairing? Do flairs end on their own ever? Or is it always the result of meds? Faith
Guest guest
Maybe I use the wrong word for me? I am not sure. For me, a " flare " is when I have swelling and severe pain that limits my ability to use the affected body part. If I say my wrist flared, then I mean it is swollen and I cannot use it. I do have multiple joints act up at the same time sometimes, and I do usually have some general overall stiffness and soreness, but when I say flare, I mean really acute and intense. I did go into a very nice condition this summer on vacation and for a few weeks after, with no swelling and very very minor stifffness. I can go weeks where my feet or knees are fine, or weeks where my hands are fine, or I can have them acting up for weeks and weeks without repreive. My stuff moves around quite a bit from joint to joint and it seems like typically one specific joint will stay bad for approx 3 days and then slowly that will subside even while some new area is starting to act up. Almost like someone in my body walking around and setting up housekeeping here for 3 days and then moving somewhere else for 3 days. I am on mtx and folic acid and I take ibuprofen 600 mg often. (Rx by doc) I use various lotions, creams, Aspercream, Ben Gay, Tiger Balm Vicks Vapo rub....I also use frozen peas. Seems my swelling subsides kinda on it's own, as it is moving from one place to another. Even when nothing is swollen, which does happen on occasion, I have become quite weak, and I am fatigued all the time. I cannot carry 50 pounds of dog food or cat litter at all anymore, nor a case of pop even when my hands wrists and fingers are fine. When my fingers, thumbs, wrists " flare " I cannot even hold a comb or my toothbrush or a glass or cup with the flaring side. 4 years ago I was bathing and dressing paralyzed people and lifting them into and out of the bath and into and out of their wheelchairs etc. Now even a gallon of milk can be a challenge. - In , fmt2002@c... wrote: > Early December I started getting sick , it is like an RA bomb exploded in my body, Almost every joint in my body.
