Guest guest
My daughter is doing a science experiement for her school science fair. We are doing the one where you add food coloring to water, and put carnations in the water, and see the flower change color. We used a dozen different water bottles to hold the carnations and put different "household items" into the water to see what effect it would have on the absorption rate. 1 1/2 oz of Club soda added to the water has showed the quickest rate of absorption. We tried sugar, lemon juice, mag citrate, salt, aspirin, sprite, apple juice, plant food, and a control with nothing added to the water. Of all the stuff we tried, guess what one flower hasn't changed color? The one where we added the 1/2 cap of Miralax. I'm sure arguments could be made for this either way. One could make the observation that the Miralax is a large molecule that cannot be absorbed. I intend to take the miralax carnation and move it to another bottle to see if it will absorb the food coloring. Again, this is in no way conclusive, but we're having fun.
