Guest guest
I have a very difficult time with sensitivity to noise. My son always has a stuffy nose due to hayfever, sinus, whatever. He breathes very loudly through his nose (at least to me it seems that way). Last night at the supper table I wanted to eat at the kitchen counter just to avoid the noise. Same thing in church with his breathing. He fancies himself as a drummer, so whether it's his knuckles or a pencil he is constantly tapping something. Drives me absolutely INSANE! My oldest hums while he eats. My daughter talks from the minute her feet hit the floor in the morning until she goes to sleep at night (actually, they all 3 do that). The people at work are very social and it's very rare that it's quiet in the office. I have great difficulty in meetings when there are multiple conversations going on. I find it very hard to focus on the conversation I should be listening too because of the extra conversations. All of this makes me feel like my skin is literally crawling and can cause headaches. I just read something that really surprised me on a website I found: " People with FMS can be sensitive to changes in barometric pressure and temperature. Rain beating on the windowpane may feel as if it were beating on the walls of your cells. The noise emitted by fluorescent lights can drive you crazy, and you may have to avoid overcrowded areas such as malls or cities. FMS sensitizes nerve endings as well as the rest of the autonomic nervous system. " My reaction was OMG, that's me! Is anyone else oversensitive to noise like this? -t
Guest guest
i cant stand the noise of florescent lights or escalators...anyone else hear those? lee A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort RE: Sensitivity to noise? I'm very sensitive to noise, too. I can't stand crowds, partly because ofthe noise (partly because I can't stand being amidst tons of people). I shopduring off hours because I can't stand the noise lots of other peopleshopping makes, unlike other people, the sound of rain pouring down isn'talways soothing to me, and sometimes I have to go outside to sit in my carfor a while just to get a few minutes of quiet around the house!I just want to cry sometimes when I can't get the peace and quiet I need.Beth Bluehttp://www.elizabethblue.comhttp://www.midatlantichorror.orghttp://www.geocities.com/horrorwritersworkshop-----Original Message-----From: mumheymum6 Sent: Thursday, October 07, 2004 7:58 AMTo: Fibromyalgia_Support_Group Subject: Sensitivity to noise?1. While it is wonderful to share our experiences with everyone on the list as to what treatments do and don't work for us, pls always check with your dr. Some treatments are dangerous when given along with other meds as well as to certain health conditions or just dangerous in general.2. If you are in a difficult situation (doesn't matter what it is) pls don't be afraid to ask for help. It is the first step to trying to make that situation better.Have a nice day everyone.
