Guest guest
Interruptions of any type are the worst.I have a sign re: refills. To make sure you request during office visit and/or call 3 days in advance. Excluding system-wide issues such as low reimbursement & thinking of those little things at the office that get under your skin . . . Anyone care to share their top 3 irritants? .. MINE: 1. My all-time top irritant: Refill requests. Solved this by only filling during appts. 2. I used to hate interruptions during OVs but as an IMP it rarely happens as I control my office setting and have no staff knocking on doors . . . 3. Phone calls. By separating emergent/urgent calls to my cell & all else to landline & email I rarely have inappropriate cell calls from pts. Disclosure: I'm leading free retreats for physicians next month and through the winter . . . & as part of the workshop we're covering simple solutions for common office irritants. Just making sure I'm comprehensive. Pamela Pamela Wible, MD 3575 St. #220 Eugene, OR 97405 www.idealmedicalcare.org " (S)He is the best physician who is the most ingenious inspirer of hope. Guest guest
Last week's story- kind of confusing...Employee a of not too big specialty group calls apparently all week and does not leave message ( all non patient calls go straight to voicemail, because it can be processed FASTER in my office setup) calls friday leaves a message asking for fax number ( pointer to web in voicemail message apparently goes whoosh)employee b of same group has been faxing and faxes some other document within minutes of employee a's call. So I assume they ahve the fax # .( a logical conclusion it seems to me, I of course does not know their organisational structure and departments) same situation repeats on Mondaythen I get call from IPA about complaint fro employee A that they dont have our fax number , and nobody oicks up the phone at our office or calls back. I spent 6 hrs unravelling this including a conversation with employee a who says " why cant you be like other office and pick up the phone? " " But I did not have the number even if my office did " The dysfunction in other office is astounding!!!Sangeetha Calling back, pharmacies etc,and they expect you to have the reference number handy .Sangeetha Interruptions of any type are the worst.I have a sign re: refills. Guest guest
and kicking their dysfunction back to your office by blaming you. . . . I do not have a fax machine. I accept email & snailmail. I can send faxes off my computer but do not receive faxes. I remember having so many faxes at other offices (most unpaid admin stuff & some were serious results on pts who were not even mine! I had to spend time tracking down who to give the results to . . annoying. I like to have some control over what gets spit out on my desk.)
