Guest guest
Last winter we lost a grandson. It was my hubands only sons baby. Josh is in the army and he was in Iraq when his wife went into labor. The baby was born 3 moths early. They let Josh come home which was great. But the baby only lived a week. I have never seen my husband so depressed he only got out of bed to go to work I tried to get him to talk to the dr but he wouldn't. It was a few months after that he was diagonosed with RA. Guest guest
That's true, dreamer. It's possible that it's a drug reaction. At the links I provided, one side effecte listed for MTX is " mood alteration; " for indomethacin, " depression and fatigue " and " psychic disturbances " are mentioned. The manufacturers list adverse reactions observed during the clinical trials and those that they receive through voluntary reporting after the drug is on the market. So, the " known " side effects don't always include adverse reactions a given individual may experience. Bottom line: ask the doctor! I'll tell you where to go! Guest guest
Diane, that is so sad. I'm very sorry about the loss of your grandson. Sounds like you and your husband have been through some very stressful times. Would your husband consider going to get counseling? Would he talk to someone at your church if you have one? I hope Josh is home safe or will be coming home very soon. I'll tell you where to go! Guest guest
Hi Larry: You sound like a terrific person. Your wife is lucky to have you. It is amazing all that you do besides having RA. God bless you. However, I have something in common with you. I don't take the usual RA meds either since I have a Kidney Transplant. It is not safe for me to take them with the transplant. I do have the duragesic patches that my Doctor prescribed for me though. They are wonderful. Otherwise I would have terrible pain due to the fact I was in 2 car accidents and got thrown out of the car in one. I have spinal stenosis, among several other things. Including Osteoporosis, Osteoarthritis, DDD, Sciatica, Gout, RA, Fibromyalgia, hypertension, anemia, reflux, a rotator cuff injury, asthma, and atelectasis (a lung disorder where I have great difficulty with breathing when I get up and walk a little). I also had an injury to both my knees when I fell and ruptured tendons in both knees and had surgery to correct the paralysis. However, I am lucky I can walk but I have to go slow. Well, I just wanted to say thank God for my Doctor for giving me the Duragesic patches. They are a God-Send. I have very little pain with them and I don't have any side effects or drugged feeling from them. I can't understand why more Doctors don't give them to pain patients. I guess they are afraid to use them, I am glad my Doctor isn't. I think they are great. I have been on them for 3 years now and they help me feel so much better than I did. Good luck to you and to the little doggies. Sincerely, Anjillah@...

Guest guest
Hi Diane, If I am getting this right you lost your grandson? Your husband is going through a depression? If this is the case Please try to get him to try to talk out his feelings. Maybe write them out if he can, ANYTHING to get the feelings OUT of his mind and body so that he won't shut down or swallow it. I say this because this is what my father did many years ago when my Parents lost my sister when she was four and a half months old. He held up like a stone wall. But family life like we knew it was NEVER like it was before. He was and still is a miserable man and he is eighty six years old. All because he could not deal with his feelings, even his psychiatrist told my mom that. They even hypnotized him and he would not let go, especially the more years that went by, the more determined and sick my dad became. There were other things also that made him ill. But not dealing with this loss was a big part of it. My prayers and love are with you! May you endure this truly sad time of grieving and may the God of all comfort be with you. Hugs, Nan in Mich.
