Guest guest
Hi , You did not ramble! I just joined this group a few weeks ago and outpouring of support and love is great. I am a 24 year old who has had chronic abdominal wall pain for the past 5 years. Most likely an entrapped nerve, but surgery failed to find it. I was on the duragesic patch, but it just didn't do the trick for me, but I hope and pray it works well for you. To make them stick, I bought what are called " opti-sites " or CVS brand is " sure-sites. " They are sticky clear adhesives that are used over IV's. I could shower and everything and it didn't budge for the 3 days. I really hope that this helps you. Sincerely, wrote: > I'm new here, but certainly not new to pain. > > I'm 26 years old, and I have had chronic low back pain for five years. Guest guest
Hi , and welcome! I use Lidoderm patches and 'clean' the skin area with rubbing alcohol before applying the patch. It does wonders for keeping them on. Have you told your doc about the skin irritation you are getting from your patches? You may want to mention it to him even though it may be a 'listed' reaction, it might be important. GBY
Guest guest
Mark, That makes me laugh. Short term memory is not one of my strong points either. Count yourself not alone. I don't think meds add to a great memory either. I know mine don't. But, you live with it. RIGHT!!!!!!!! We all understand from the bottom of our hearts. I also have spine problems. Some days I just want to curl up and make the world go away. Mine only started on the early 90's. You have many years on me. I have a burst fracture of T12 with arthritis and stynosis, a real bad hip cause I landed on the right side of my butt when I hit in the boat accident. It screwed up my ribs and hip and a lot of things along the way. Thank God your daughter was protected in that accident. You can almost take anything if your childern are o.k. This is a great site. You have good people and much good advice and empathy. I really needed this place for moral support. And it made me realize, there are people that are worse off and hurt more that me. I really was falling into that self pity pit. The group gives me a place to vent my frustrations and fears and hurts. I went to my daughters in Calif. the beginning of Feb. Upon arrival there I got greeted by her Wymer., can't spell it. A big 110 lb. dog that hit me head on. Knocked my head so hard I have had a headache for 6 wks. Finally went for exrays yesterday. I am so afraid he did something to my cervical. Stiff neck also. Can't turn to the left without pain. We'll see how it turns out. Now both ends hurt. Top to bottom. Enough prattle. And welcome to our little group. Be okay, donna
Guest guest
Hello My name is Wanda I joined your group and have been reading the posts. I am 50 years old and have been miserable for most of the last 3 years. Mine is due to a car accident and bad joints.I have had 2 total hips and 2 total knees all on the left side, the femur has now bowed and I need to have it broken and straightened and new joints again. I am hopeful these procedures will help the pain, if not I am going to have to go into a wheelchair for the remainder of my life because walking is just too painful. It has been probably 6 months since I have been able to sleep through the night without waking to pain. I am taking vicodin for pain and try to use it sparingly as I do not want to become addicted to it. Try to have a comfortable day everyone Wanda

Guest guest
I agree too that " pain-killers " are not addictive. I can't even say that they are actually pain killers, because do they actually kill the pain, for me the pain keeps coming back, anyway. I just take the pain medication just to reduce the pain so that I am able to function with my life. I'm not afraid of addiction, I don't like to swallow, now I have difficulty swallowing sometimes, so I don't take the pain med all the time, just as needed. I don't experience a high on them if anything it makes me drowsy and nauseaous (sp?)who likes to feel that way? Guest guest
--- Wanda wrote: > ANYWAY it has been a rough week so bad most of it > has been spent in bed > Not a fun way to function Don't worry about the tolerance increase in pain medications. Once people are finally adequately treated, they only needed changes when their condition changes. The trick is to be adequately treated in the first place. Pain that forces you to bed for long periods of time, is more damning to a person than the med tolerance nonsense. It's about quality of life. Talk to them up front about your pain and how it is decreasing your ability to function. Good luck Kaylene Moderator __________________________________________________
