Guest guest
Sorry for the cross post but I thought this info was pretty important. I found another source of Lead in our house - our Corelle dishes and our Gibson dishes - both have 'FDA and Prop 65 approved' levels of lead in them which is measured by leaching less than .226ppm when the dishes are new (who knows what my 15+yo dishes a leaching into my children's food daily!) for a graph of FDA vs Prop 65 approved levels of leaching see: http://www.dhs.ca.gov/childlead/tableware/twregs.html Corel confirmed via email today that their line of dishes (including Festivaware made by Pyrex) has a 'minimal' acceptable amount of lead in them (I'm waiting to hear back on their Visions and regular Pyrex lines). The Gibson web site says their dishes are " FDA Approved " for lead content and Pfaltzgraff customer service told me they 'Could not guarantee their dishes do not have lead in them " . Our DAN! said since our boys tested high for lead that NO amount of lead is acceptable. Thought I would share since Corelle is a great dish for drestructive kiddos - I'm really going to miss them! Still figuring out what to replace them with. So far most of the manufactures I've called say they can't guarantee their products are free of lead. Ikea did tell me verbally that their dinnerware does not contain lead but I couldn't get a written statement. The only brand I've found so far to have a written statement of 100% lead free is Fiesta not be confused with Festivaware. The older Fiestaware you might find on ebay and the like does have lead but the new Fiesta line you can get at Macy's, LinensNThings or online at Amazon and the like is 100% lead free. Thought I'd share since Lead is one of my boys biggest issues unfortunately! If anybody knows of a cheaper set of dishes that can state in writing to be 100% lead free please let me know - we'll be eating on paper plates till I can figure out what we are going to buy to replace what we've got... near LAX
