Dudley, I sent my doc the quote and link I found on your site a few weeks

ago:(_http://www.happyherbalist.com/fda_report.htm#reference%20dose)_

excerpt:

Quoting from G. Schauss, Ph.D. ( Hopkins University)

“…you should be advised that we recently completed an extensive review of

the scientific literature on the safety of silver, especially as it relates to

its one known potential side effect, namely, Argyria. Argyia is an

irreversible discoloration of the pigment (skin) caused by excessive silver

intake or

chronic exposure to silver by certain tissues. The amount of silver required

to develop Argyria is estimated to be 3.8 grams per day. By comparison

standard 10 ppm colloidal silver contains silver in amounts equaling less than

1

milligram of silver (1,000 micrograms = 1 milligram; 1,000 milligrams - 1

gram), which therefore represents an amount approximately 1/500th to 1/1000th

of

the amount of silver considered to be a risk in the development of Argyria.

and he replied

" Thanx—but this indicates that one using CS daily for 2-3 years can produce

it. Some people get in the habit of daily use. "

Any more ideas? I have no way to find Dr. Schauss's original published

report so I can't check and see where he got this. I guess I can always just

go

ahead on my own but this doc always listens, always checks what I send him,

and usually agrees with what I come up with so I tend to pay attention to him.

Thanks! Daphne

Hi All

Argyria:

http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/colloidalsilver2/message/18698

Another subject:

Someone in the Yahoo silver group started taking 5 droppers-full

of silver a day this week. She said she got a upset stomach.

If someone here has had this problem and fixed it, I could

copy your reply to that board.

Regards,

Szpak

It appears your doctor overlooked the words " per day " -- which were

emphasized in the article itself.

The article said the it takes about 3.8 grams PER DAY to acquire

argyria.

With water containing a concentration of 10 ppm of silver, one would

need to drink 3.8/.000010 grams of water, = 380,000 grams of

water, = 380 kilograms of water, = 836 pounds of water (at 2.2 pounds

per kilogram), = 102 gallons per day (at 8.2 pounds per gallon of

water.)

According to the article, this is the threshold amount: below this

daily amount, one should typically be able to go a lifetime without

problems.

According to this standard, I can safely drink 100 gallons of water

everyday for a lifetime without overdosing on CS. It is only when I

go over 100 gallons a day that I become at risk.

I believe it would be difficult for me or anyone else to drink over

one hundred gallons of water for just one day , let alone as a

lifetime daily average.

Let's pursue this to the point of ridiculousness.

If I can safely drink 100 gallons of water an hour, 24 hours a day,

then my body can handle over four gallons an hour. But, I would like

to sleep once in a while. If I sleep 8 hours a day, then I can

safely drink over 6 gallons an hour, every hour an I awake, for my

entire life, without fear of developing argyria.

This is one gallon every 10 minutes or so.

ly, I would have a hard time drinking just one full gallon in a

single ten minute period. Doing this for an entire 16 hour day would

be essentially impossible. Doing this for an entire lifetime is flat

out impossible.

In other words, CS at 10 ppm concentration is NOT a threat for

argyria.

The next issue is that many with serious lyme problems would gladly

trade argyria for debilitation. I was personal friends with a lady

who had late stage lyme which had reduced her to using supplemental

oxygen 24 hours a day and had to give up her driving license because

of brain fog.

I made a CS generator for her. She tried it once and said it made

her much worse and was uninterested in pursuing it. After herxing

was explained, she reduced the consumption and gradually worked up to

several teaspoons a day. After doing this for about half a year to a

year, she was able to drive again. I can honestly say that her skin

color was the least of her concerns.
