Guest guest
Emergency Physicians have to recertify every 10 years for the American Board of Emergency Medicine. You do not have to be board certified to practice emergency medicine. You dont have to have any training in emergency medicine. There is no recertification for your medical degree. There are organizations that offer " certification " in emergency medicine for physicians without training in emergency medicine. This involves paying a fee and taking a test. I agree with Dr. Gandy that reliance on the recertification exams is an absurd necessity brought on by the failure of some " professionals " to live up to their responsibilities. CE mandates should be exceeded by factors of 10 if one expects to maintain the needed knowledge base and keep up with current advances.
