Guest guest
Jan darlin, I would say ROFL but it would take me five minutes to get down there, then I would see things under my desk that have been down there for months and I would decide to clean while I was there, then I would forget why I got on the floor in the first place. That's due to fibro fog and what my DD calls " Old Timer's Disease. " Thanks for a much needed laugh! jane > Pat (and all)....you are welcome to use anything I post here without even asking. I post to share... (It was funny, wasn't it?) > > Jane: > You sent me on an Internet search...you know curiosity...cat etc. > > This is what I came up re: " old age and cunning......etc " > > This is the joke it is most commonly associated with (Mark Twain's name never came up in hundreds of entries on the Net...but this one did..) > " Old age and cunning " One evening an old farmer decided to go down to the pond, as he hadn't been there for a while, and look it over. As he neared the pond, he heard voices shouting and laughing with glee. As he came closer he saw it was a bunch of young women skinny dipping in his pond. He made the women aware of his presence and they all went to the deep end of the pond. > One of the women shouted to him, " We're not coming out until you leave! " > The old man replied, " I didn't come down here to watch you ladies swim naked or make you get out of the pond. " > " I'm here to feed the alligator. " > > That little phrase was paraphrased so many times in articles and stories though that I made note of a few just for fun.... > > " Old age and cunning beat..... > > " youth and skill " > > " triumph over youth and enthusiasm. " Old age and cunning are used to counter speed and youth.
