Hey Dirk,

Have heart, some of us friendly midwesterners have turned Californian.

Least wise I hope the friendliness rubs off on the Californians and not

the other way around. I've been here almost 14 years and it took me

7 years, until I joined a church and square dancing to really make friends

and then I met the best friend of all Phil (course even though he spendt a

good part of his life here, he was born in Indiana). My sister lived here

28 years and went back there because it was too hard to make friends and

keep them (that was not the Californians fault on that one). Maybe it's

because everything moves much slower there. Russ should have a nice

trip somehow in the vary little traveling I've done I've missed everything

between the midwest and here someday I'd love to travel across the country.

How do you ever get over your fear of getting sick to do it?

What is this Indiana connection? I lived 13 years in Indianapolis (grew up in

Oklahoma), and then I headed for New Hampshire by way of Rochester, NY (for

three

years). Most of my long-time friends are from Indiana, and I still cheer for

the

Pacers, even when they play the Celtics...

There is going to be a National Square Dance convention in Indianapolis

this summer, unfortunately we will not be able to go but are planning to

go to the one next year in Baltimore.
