Guest guest
Thanks all, for your responses to my questions, and to 's. -, I read back thru the June archives to answer many of my other questions about live donor tx. -, you and Handi are my heroes! I'm so glad to hear things are going so well, and for the relief about your foot. -I agree that should be ambassdor of a country...lol. How about the FAQ page? I think this group would benefit greatly, although I understand the time factor. When I have energy, I use it elsewhere doing things that have been piling up, or just to get away from it all. -I got my LFT results back yesterday via phone message. She (Dr. Asst) only left the results of the ALT, AST, and Alk Phos. ALL have come down - especially the Alk Phos. from 579 to 313! She didn't give me the albumin levels. I see the Dr. tomorrow about my recent tests. I will also check in about disability to see what he thinks. My boss thinks its a bad idea...that I would get bored and not challenge myself. I don't think so. -My husband is willing to be a live donor if/when the time comes. I don't know if this is such a wise idea, even if he checks out okay. Any thoughts? -This board is da bomb! -God bless each and every one of you and your families!! Cheryl - Charlotte, NC
Guest guest
Cheryl, If your husband donates, make sure you have friends and/or family who commit to about 6 to 8 weeks' round the clock stay after you get out of the hospital. You'll need that kind of support because you'll both be down for the count for a while. We asked friends if they could donate a weeks' vacation to visit, and we've got help lined up through late August. I think you'll need it more than I did because you main caregiver will be operated on also. This is MAJOR surgery, and it takes a long time to recover. So, think about that before deciding to go through with the procedure. Then, talk to your tx team. It does take a long time, it seems, to set everything in motion. We started asking about living donor options last July. So far, I'm still doing well in NH. Just very tired today from the clinic visit in Boston yesterday. hooch@... wrote: > Thanks all, for your responses to my questions, and to 's. > -, I read back thru the June archives to answer many of my > other questions about live donor tx. > -, you and Handi are my heroes!
