What I heard about Dr. Atkins was that he was in a coma 8 days. He gained 60

pounds from the fluid coming in from the IV. His family didni't recognize

him.

Well now I truly do not mean to be unkind, but some how I simply laughed

out loud when I saw that his wife, planned to sue the Mayor of

New York for calling her husband fat! Of all things!

If he gained 60 pounds in such a short period of time, it sounds like he had

kidney failure. Usually when one has heart failure the odds of being alive

without exercising for the next five years is around68% and the odds of

being alive if you do exercise is around 91%.

On the news I heard about Atkins was that he was extremely overweight and

had 90 percent of his arteries clogged. I'm sorry, but I was an R.N. and

there is no way anyone could gain 60 pounds in 8 days from IVs. The news

here said he ate huge amounts of meat-and carbs and that he actually had

fallen because of the heart attack he had, rather than slipping on ice.d

If he gained 60 pounds in such a short period of time, it sounds like he had

kidney failure. Usually when one has heart failure the odds of being alive

without exercising for the next five years is around68% and the odds of

being alive if you do exercise is around 91%.
