Guest guest
I have been treated for some form of Atrial Fibrillation for the last 10 months during which time the attacks have rapidly progressed from once a month to once every 48 hours. Having spent some time researching my particular symptoms on the net it would appear that Vagal AF would be the best diagnosis. As my doctor has so far steered away from a specific diagnosis I wonder if any of you more experienced sufferers would venture an opinion if I describe my experience. I am 44, male, physically fit with no other heart problems. The attacks always occur when at rest ,usually in the evening. Light excercise will return my pulse to normal 95% of the time. I have a fairly slow pulse rate which decreases even more when in AF. Beta -blockers made the symptoms worse. I am currently taking 150 mg Amiodarone plus 50 mg Mexiteline per day (plus Warfarin). The consultant says this will be the final attempt to reduce the attacks through medication. The next stage will be an ablatum although it is not expected to be very successful ,which will mean some form of bi-atrial pacemaker. For some one who knew nothing about all this under a year ago the rapid move toward a pacemaker has come as something of a shock ! Any comments or useful information gratefully received.
