No, that is not a dumb question. Several of us in the group have had

jaw problems. After all, the jaw is a joint. Fortunately, I didn't have

to have any treatment. Mine just lasted a few weeks, and then the RA

meds kicked in and made it disappear. I hope yours will also disappear.

a, the owner of the list, has had major jaw problems and will

probably respond with more help than I can give. Sue

oh so your TMJ must be caused by grinding your teeth.. I don't think that is the

issue for me. I think in this case the way it came on so sudden, it is the

swelling that is preventing me from opening my mouth fully. Not sure, I think

that exercise may irritate it... but who knows...it could work. Thanks for the

suggestion.

I have bilateral tmj and have had surgeries. ... definitely a last resort.

Exercise made it worse for me. PT was good but hot/cold, ultrasound was what

was done in PT for my jaw. The exercise that was done was post op in order to

be able to gain some mobility (i.e. open my mouth again post op). I'm leery of

dentists and tmj... just my personal opinion. There truly is not much

knowledge about it out there and it's a real shame. If you haven't already, I'd

go

to a specialist who treats only jaws and such.
