Guest guest
So it looks like this only applies to people who go to an ACO or one of their new-fangled type of practices. Does not apply to our practice - yet. And how is this any different than any other federal agency (a la Social Security), that compiles a database and then uses it for their own purposes? I hate to tell you, but if you have a SSN, you are in a database somewhere, and yes, they can find you. Unless, of course, you move to a deserted island, live off the grid in Timbuktu, and pay and get paid in cash. It's just a fact of modern living..... [Attachment(s) from Bleiweiss included below] Hold onto your PHI as well as your professional Data because here comes Big Brother to compile it all, with TONS of ID Theft attached data information such as gender, DOB, Insurance Claims, Name, Address, Dx Codes too it seems to be saying... All sorts of things. But if you care to waste your breath and finger strength you can attempt to be heard by this Privacy Destroying Express Train by writing and mailing in a comment, although it is due to go into effect in Mid October this year none the less so it seems.... Yaaaaaaaaa! I'm so Happy to see and be able to say quite honestly that not only was Orwell right, he didn't even understand the half of it without an IT like perspective from which to create his scary vision of the future that is NOW our Present, Here and Now..... http://www.fiercehealthcare.com/story/cms-launching-aco-database-identifiable-participant-info/2011-09-22 And here we see that a majority of Americans seem to share mine and 's honest concerns..... So why not healthcare professionals? Or do not enough people care enough to stop and think with CMS waving Meaningless Use dollars signs all around town.... Never mind the concept of providers being forced one day to " absorb risk " ala Insurance rs Role in all of this, is just about the most insane and horrible thing I have heard about for primary care since the invention of the original HMO's.... Gee let's all sigh-up willing to have any and all of our data scrounged through anytime an insurance carrier or CMS and it's Contractors (also the Give Back Police as well as Insurance rs, RIGHT???? Remember who this really implies and covers here folks..... The Claims Police!) http://www.fierceemr.com/story/80-americans-concerned-about-ehr-privacy/2011-09-22 Attachment is of the actual CMS Public Notice and the basics of this new planned set of data base records.... Watch Out and don't say I didn't warn you..... But then again not too many wrote back voicing and supporting similar concerns, so can I assume most of you are OK with most or all of this invasion of your records, your exam rooms, your practices no less YOUR PHI too as consumers of healthcare yourself, as well as any and all of your loved ones too... Your teen in Drug Rehab, Aunt Sadie??? I'm about to puke and try to find America on the Map because I swear it's not Here Anymore.... -- Pratt
