Guest guest
Hi! Believe it or not, I have both MS and RA--a double whammy. Thankfully my MS has been kind to me and I have few symptoms, but MRI shows lesions on brain. MY RA however is awful. The catch 22 is finding a medicine that I can take that won't affect MS--all the TNF inhibitors make MS worse. My doc is actually thinking of putting me back on Enbrel since the RA is the big problem--throw caution to the wind. MS can cause tremendous facial pain--like sharp needles. I thankfully haven't experienced that. I'm only 36 but have had a RA dx since 1996 and an MS dx since 1995. Guest guest
Hi, It's Judi in soggy Indiana (southern half) I don't have RA but have Dercum's Disease and fibro, and, according to my neurologist, " very early MS. " The Dercum's causes a lot of pain, as does fibro, and as far as MS goes, the only thing that has really shown up is the brain lesion and some other minor problems relating to MS. I also have trigeminal neuralgia. Can't take any TNF inhibitors either because they aggravate MS...and they also aggravate the Dercum's. I was on experimental chemotherapy last year (alpha Interferon) which caused the Dercum's tumors to grow fast and furious besides extreme joint pain and fevers, so they took me off it. Most recently I was told that even though Remicade shows some promise for Dercum's, it's contra-indicated in MS! I have a lot of respect for Montel--he's overcome a lot.
