Guest guest
Hi Faith. Welcome to the group. I am glad to hear that you are seeing a rheumie soon, mine is the greatest and has helped me so much. Plus this is the greatest group of people in the world, there have been so many days they are all that's helped me through the day. There is so much good information to go along with the love and caring in this group. And there are so many new meds that have come out in the past few years- I am on Remicade myself, it has slowed the progression of the disease and helps keep the psoriasis calmed down a lot. Speaking for myself, and I know many others in the room, my faith in God is what keeps me going. Without Him, I would be crazy (er!) do you have family, or church family, that can be supportive of you? Some rheumies have support/mentoring groups through their practices, and the Arthritis foundation website is a great resource also. hang in there! You are not alone- feel free to email me anytime you need to talk. I am a single mom of 4 and grandmother of five " near perfect " grandchildren, and would be happy to lend a listening ear. God bless you. Jane -- In , " advoc84kids " <fmt2002@c...> wrote: > > > Hello, My name is Faith. I am 44 years old. I am newly diagnosed with > autoimmune arthritis. Guest guest
Welcome Faith! I am glad that your here, you will find some comfort here, so give it a chance. We have a fairly large group, and there are many from California. You will find out that there is great support, and wonderful people you will meet all over the World. I'm sorry to hear your dx, and hope you get to a rheumy soon. It's a challenge to deal with a chronic disease, but it helps to have people who understand. God bless, Tawny > > > Hello, My name is Faith. I am 44 years old. I am newly diagnosed with > autoimmune arthritis. Guest guest
Hi and welcome Faith, I was diagnosed with autoimmune diseases just a little over a year ago and I live in southern california in the san diego area. Let me tell you that you have joined a great group. You asked how we get through it well let me say that with alot of meds and alot of faith. Sometimes it works sooner and sometimes later but don't give up, cause if you do then you let the disease win and we can't let that happen. I have been going thru alot of pain I am not only taking the regular meds used to fight this but I have been constantly taking vicodin and soma for pain during the past two months. It seems to be getting worse, but I have a very competitive edge and I am not about to give up. Anyways stay in touch and try to stay positive by the way where exactly do you live? I used to work doing seasonal field work up in that area as a matter of fact my oldest son was born in Fairfield,CA. maybe we could e-mail each other. Again welcome and keep the faith. Guest guest
Dear Faith, Wow - my daughter lives in Lodi and as you know - Stockton is only a southern suburb away. I apologize for not knowing more about what you have posted, this holiday season has really gotten away from me and I have 743 messages in my in box. After I was diagnosed by my internist I was referred to Dr. Utz, at Stanford Medical Center. I know it is a long drive when you are hurting, but if your insurance allows it, he is absolutely wonderful! He does co-ordinate with my internist, so my medical care is good. When I went to him I could hardly walk across the street, pain and fatigue were defeating me. Thru very " " discussions on medications, I am truly as good as I can be and able to enjoy my retired life. Please feel free to contact me directly if you would like, I am on my third year of this RA journey and considering all that has been thrown at me, doing pretty good. Gentle Hugs & prayers, Carol M. in CA
