Guest guest
We are happy to welcome you. In order to post to the group, sent the letter to: Actually, the Cleveland mold problem is only the tip of this iceberg. People have been aware for years that aspergillus can kill an immune compromised, they just didn't know how molds sicken and kill healthy people. What we have seen happen with many members of this group is that exposure leads to immune suppression. Some of us have elevated EBV, leading our doctors to suppose we have " chronic fatigue syndrome " - some have NK levels that are very, very low. All the more reason we keep saying to investigate us - but so far no takers. I was not ill due to mold or any : sick building but have done alot of research in that area. I am a writer and : a holistic health consultant and at one time had a clinic. : : We live in southwest Florida, (which is mold heaven) and I have to say now : that I know more that there are not too many areas in this country that are : not " mold heaven " . I work with a very knowledgeable microbiologist who has : also taught me alot and I am very grateful for all I have learned. I cannot : express enough to folks how BAD the mold problem is. I had no idea when I : started this research that it could not only make you feel horrible, loose : concentration, etc but actually cripple and kill. The Cleveland Outbreak : which discusses the deaths of the infants is heartbreaking. : : I wonder if you or anyone can answer the following question for me so that I : do not waste any more time on those that do not TRULY want the mold problem : solved.......... : : I am working with a product that is totally natural, some say there products : are, but they are not telling the truth. When you research the MSDS sheets on : these products you find out what is really in them. Many of my friends have : been poisoned in one way or another and we have to be so careful with the : products they use, and I will not show them any poison to help them heal. I : spoke to one of the schools down here that has a severe mold problem. The : principal seemed very interested in getting help, she had been ill herself. : In the past the clean-up has involved using a biocide (a pesticide) and that : bothered me alot. It seemed to also bother the principal and she stated she : did not want the children to be poisoned. I showed her the data on what we : had, we wrote a protocol for removal and decontamination of the : school......and she apparently has gone " cold " . I know her position, she is : torn by, I am sure the school board, her job, her health BUT my question is, : DO THEY REALLY WANT THE SCHOOLS/BUILDINGS CLEANED UP OR NOT? It would : appear that they do, the mold is in all the papers, the books have been : burned, etc. Now that I have shown them a solution, one that is not a poison, : that is actually helpful, not expensive, and good for the environment, I : have heard nothing. I cannot bear the thought of those children working in : that mess daily, no wonder they are all on drugs, they cannot concentrate. I : am very sensitive to mold now and cannot be around it, I get a horrible : headache, asthma attack and cannot think. I help myself naturally and get : away or kill the mold and seal it and the symptoms are gone. Thank God. : : Sorry to ramble, I wanted you to know the background and then ask advice from : you or others since I am new to this group to see if they think the school : system, corporations, or whoever REALLY want the problems solved. I showed : the principal testing data so that she would know I knew what I was talking : about. I have antimicrobial tests results and more tests are being run all : the time and so far, so good. Have others run into the same situation? : : God help us all, these buildings and homes are a mess and it is so serious. I : think most people do not think about the seriousness of the problems because : they do not understand unless it has happened to them. Thanks for allowing me : to join the group, we all have so much to learn and so much to : give................ : : DC :

Guest guest
new member - another teacher in a sick school. welcome to our group. Barbara ----- Original Message ----- From: <AMastr6336@...> <-owner > Sent: Thursday, August 16, 2001 10:53 AM Subject: Re: Welcome to : I am a public school teacher in Massachusetts. I have been in buildings that : I suspect to be extremely sick for the past 28 years. Both of the buildings : have leaked/flooded ever since they were built. One of them has had 6 roof : jobs in 25 years. The other had to have the entire facade of the building, : an area equivalent to a 24 story office building on its side, removed so that : the mold infestation could be removed. Once that was done and repaired the : same had to be done to the interior walls of the building. It still leaks. : When I asked for the report of what was found, the superintendent refused to : give it to me saying that she would only give it to my doctor. It is now 2 : years later and no report has been forwarded. I now have an occ. health : spec. trying to get the report because all of a sudden I have 3 mold : allergies and other symptoms. Just this past winter we had a staff member : pass away, largely due to what she referred to " her room was making her : sick " . She did have a pre-existing condition, but it is our fear that the : conditions in the room hastened her demise---and the fact that no one is : forthcoming about the issue only increases our concerns and fears. :

It had water leaks, etc. (due to landlord negligence) my family and i were : getting sick, my 6 year (now 7) old is the worst affected and going to the : doctors all the time. : One evening while my daughter was taking a shower upstairs we heard : running water in the kitchen, when I looked I saw a river of water and muck : coming from my cabinets. We told our landlord about all that happened and we : needed a plumber. She told us that is was my children splashing water or : leaving the curtain open and said she would not send a plumber. : My girl friend came over and we were going to use bleach to get rid of as : much of the mold as we could up inside of the ceiling inside of the cabinet, : That night my husband rushed me to the emergency room because i couldn't : breath I remained in the hospital for ten days under constant medications and : frequent tests. When I was released the hospital did not know what caused : but they were able to finally return and stabilize my blood oxygen level at : about 88% and release me with 7 different medications to take : Finally my husband convinced her that a plumber was needed. : Apparently there had been a leak that was there for sometime, it was from the : pipe going from the valves to the shower head inside of the wall and had : remained hidden until the ceiling above the inside cabinet gave way. After we : removed the ceiling debris we could see that there was mold that extended up : to the next floor. : : The doctor suggested to get it tested i read some of the websites he : suggested, after reading some of the horror stories we decided it was a good : idea. . we had a swab from the mold above the cabinets and an air test done : on the main floor of the house, it came out with stacybroyors and numerous : other mirotoxics in the indoor air, the inside air count was three times over : the counts on the outside air base line count. In addition stachybotris (as : well as a few others) were only found inside of the home. : my husband and i went to the local health department and they said my : son has been sick for to long for it to be from the house, The health : inspector did begrudgingly do a walk through of the house to see the peeling : paint on the upstairs bedrooms ceilings (there had been roof leaks for a : long time that the landlord would put a band aide on and they always leaked : again) : The inspector told us that there was no danger to anyone from the mold that : it was harmless and to clean the area with bleach and cover the ceiling in : the cabinet with plastic. SHE TOLD US THAT AFTER WE TOLD HER ABOUT MY : HOSPITAL STAY AND GAVE HER THE COPY OF THE LAB REPORTS AS WELL AS THE : RECOMMENDATION ON TREATMENTS BY An INDUSTRIAL HYGIENIST !!! Do to the danger : of creating airborne particles that would cause heath problems for people and : animals as well as spreading the mold everywhere. : : WE REMINDED HER ABOUT THE REPORTS AND HOSPITAL STAY AND THE INSPECTOR TOLD : US THAT THE MOLD COULD NOT HAVE CAUSED THE ILLNESSES. : we moved out of the house DEC. 1 2001 but still are not better, i still : suffer headaches and my son has had a sinus infection for over a year. my : son seemed to start feeling a bit better less problems after we moved, : recently the landlord started renovations on the house, but did not hire an : industrial hygienist, the school less then 2 blocks away my son started : getting sick again, while talking to other parents i found out a lot of the : kids had been getting sick as well with the same type of symptoms as my son. : we talked to the principal and found out she too was having the headaches and : dizziness also, the principal contacted the local health department and was : told that school was cleared and there is no heath risk (i don't believe : that) : We have been trying to find help on what to do for our situation but after : months of searching for doctors, agencies, lawyers, or anyone who can help : us. : : : If you know any information that might help in someway please email me at : SHELLY5214@... : : Thank You : :
