I guess maybe it is just me but I have never been one to be to worried about

receiving the recognition. I am proud when someone does recognize EMS or one of

our well " family " but I don't thrive on it as I have seen many do in my career.

Don't even try to think that I was not affected by the memorial svcs. I work at

UTMB in the ER and I was( am) friends with and knew Mac and Lynn also. I

have cryed HELL I may still cry more at sometime as the healing process

continues .WE WERE hit very hard as were several others. So I am not and will

not ever down play the importance of the services!

Coverage sucked and yes I was rather upset about it too. BUT would , Lynn or

Mac have really wanted it. I doubt it. Yes they deserved it but they all would

have told you no don't do it for me.

Do we in EMS deserve more attention ?

YES WE DO

But I don't think that being upset abort the difference's between our position

and a fireman's position(or police officers ) is the way to gain it. Media looks

at us in a different fashion. it is true we all know it and short of making them

look upon us in a worse one there is not much we can do about it.

I will have to agree with you about the PR issues. So what does that mean Hmmm I

think it almost says that we only have ourselves to blame for making our own

bed. If we want to change it we need to all work together with each other as

well as other public safety people. Our problem is that it takes a tragedy to

bring us all together and unfortunately we don't stay that way. How can we

expect media and public to see us in a different way we we cant agree on what

way we want them too see us.
