The only one of the above meds that I take is zoplicone 7.5 mg. I've been

taking it at the same dose for years with no noticeable side effects.

You're lucky you're in Canada for that one. It isn't available as a stand alone

med in the USA. They just recently got it in a mixed drug called Lunesta, that

is very expensive and not as effective. I get a prescription for zoplicone

filled whenever I go home to Canada. I find it works much better than Ambien or

Restoril. The price is very reasonable too.

Hi ,

I have taken several of those medications and the only one I have issue with

is Neurontin. But I am 1 person and there are others who have no problem

with it. I will always say save surgery as a last resort. Unless there is a

danger of paralysis.I had complications from lower back surgery and I am

left disabled for life. Please think it through and look at all of your

options. Maybe long term physical therapy can do more than a quick surgery?

Hi and ,

I am having a hard time telling who is sending the 1st email so I don't know

which of you is struggling from Spinal problems, so I will address both of you.

I have severe spinal problems. I had 3 herniated discs in my neck, one of

which was causing me severe headaches and pressure up the back of my neck into

my head. I had fusion of C5-6 with bone bank bone. He also cleaned out

osteophytes that were up and down my spine from the vertabre rubbing together.

I felt good for a couple years after that it was down hill again.

I have the disc above and below the one he did surgery on both are herniated

more then they were before my surgery and I am getting the pain in the back of

my head and neck again , with pain in arms. there is also degeneration,

displaced discs and arthritis. I also have the same problem now in my low back

with 3 herniated discs, stenosis and displaced discs arthritis. I have severe

pain in my rt leg from that they think, but now I have been told my leg has RSD

and that is why it is so supersensative.

So if you are asking if anyone that had it would suggest it again, I would not

do it again, at least not for my neck. They may have a better success rate for

the back, I don't know. There are a lot of different therapies out there that

can help, Cranialscaral has helped take my headaches away , at least for the

rest of the day, Aqua therapy has helped a little with keeping movement in my

leg.

I only know that once you have surgery it can be a long haul and that is what

happened to me, you have to be comfortable with your decission and get a 2nd

opinion until you are sure.

I have had the cervical fusion, C3 to C7 in the front and C5 to C7 in the

back. I was told before surgery I could have the Epidural Steroid Injections

to help with the pain, but the injections wouldn't 'fix' anything and it may

take up to three before I even felt any relief. My co-pay for my insurance is

$250 for EACH injection and I just don't have that kind of money. Having the

surgeries has helped, but with the other stuff I was just diagnosed with, my

neck will never be 'all better'.

Because of having three different fusion surgeries, I spent 9 months out of 12

in a hard collar neck brace, which is certainly no fun at all. The surgeon now

says (and the pain specialist agrees) that a fourth surgery is in my future to

put even more hardware in to stabilize everything. I currently have a 6 inch

metal plate held by 10 screws to stabilize the fusion in the front, and rods

and pins in the back to stabilize the fusion he did in the back.

This is just my experience with cervical fusion, it has been a very long hard

road, I just wanted to be out of pain! I had been in pain for about 3 years

before I even went to the doctor in the beginning of all this. Now, almost 2

years later, there is a whole nother set of problems. But like I said, that's

just me.
