Most of us have been diagnosed with PSC, although there are a few

whose diagnosis is still tentative. Most of us can relate to the

long

search for the diagnosis though. I know it took several months for

me

to be positively diagnosed, and I think there are people here whose

diagnosis took even longer than that.

Welcome to the group!

Hi all, I hope you are having as less pain as possible.

I finally had my first visit to the pain specialist today, and quite

frankly, I am shocked! In some ways, I am relieved because the pain-

level I have been experiencing has been explained. But on the other

hand, I really believed the pain I was having was due to the extensive

cervical fusion surgeries I have had in the last year.

The pain doc summary letter for the appointment says I have the

following:

Cervical Spondylosis

Postlaminectomy Syndrome - Cervical Region

Myofacial Pain Syndrome - Right Paraspinous Muscles

Sciatica

Bi-Lateral Carpal Tunnel Syndrome

whew! I guess that explains a lot and never again will I let any

doctor put me off with a vague 'maybe' explanation for any pain I am in!

Anyway, he put me on some new medications, they don't seem to be

helping much at all. Maybe that's due to the physical therapy I am

doing, not sure.

He has me on the following meds, please let me know what you all think

about from your experience if this seems appropriate or not.

MS Contin - 30 mg 4 times a day

Neurontin - 300 mg 3 times a day

Zanaflex - 2 mg every 6 hours as needed

Norco - 10/325 two tabs every 4-6 hours as needed

Your input is appreciated and I promise to try and be a much

less 'holier than thou' member of this group from now on. Thanks for

your patience.

Don't know anything about any of then but Zanaflex, that puts me to sleep. I

don't know how you can stay awake taking it that often. I would find my self

napping! Gwen

Gwen,

I don't know what the deal is with me. It seems I can take extraordinary

amounts of meds and not seem to be very affected by them. Even the pharmacist

today was 'drop-jawed' that I would be taking the Norco with the morphine and

Zanaflex. But I seriously haven't noticed any reduction in my pain today since

I started on the new meds. I am really hoping it's because of the physical

therapy and the meds really are working.
