Ketamine Injection Therapy

I read somewhere that they are doing this fairly new treatment in

the U.S.A, where they give you basically a 7 day monitored dose of

Ketamine injections for Neuropathic pain.

This therapy is being used specifically for " Reflex Sympathetic

Dystrophy Syndrome, also known as CRPS " which is a Neuropathic

disorder causing diffuse and lifelong neuropathic pain. My doctor

has suggested that this disorder is a result of failed untethering

surgeries(not cases where there is retethering but cases where the

surgery itself had been successful but neuropathic pain remains).

The therapy looks promising, with both short term and long term

results in some patients. I am not suggesting that this is any kind

of a miracle therapy. But, it looks realistic and promising.

My step-brother had CRPS for 5 years. He originally had Carpal Tunnel

from computer typing and it spread and turned into CRPS .. any kind of

injury can do that. He was on morphine 24x7 due to full-body pain,

it's a horrible disease. He did the Ketamine and it gave his nerves

time to calm down and he is now doing much better. Thanks for the link.

Thanks for the information, I wonder if this can help put

neuropathic pains from tethered cord issues to rest.

Well nerve pain I don't fully understand but from what I learned from

my step-brothers experience it is like dropping a pebble in the

bathrub. The waves wash back and forth and never calm down so they

remain in an aggitated state -- the strong and direct pain killer over

the course of a week (in his case a month) gives it a chance to relax.

This was with his reflexive nerves though and not localized to any

single location. How the pain gets initially started, the pebble

dropping, (surgery, carpal tunnel, etc) doesnt seem to be relevant.

You may want to check into Reflex Sympathy Disorder groups and see how

their symptoms compare to yours if any.

Thank You for the reccomendation on Dr. Jallo .. I live in the

Baltimore area and need to find a doctor to consult with about my

deteriating condition. I've also heard of Ben Carson and Jon Weingart.
