Guest guest
The problem with Stark's bill is that it also calls for the establishment of a new payment program of " variable durations limitations " -- whatever that may be. The staffers in Stark's office have not been able to explain it. I think APTA, AOTA and ASHA's ideas of working to get more realistic practice expense values for the physician' s fee schedule is probably safer than throwing it open to a whole new reimbursement system. There is also another bill that was introduced by Rep. JoAnn Emerson of NJ which has 18 co-sponsors. It calls for a total repeal of the caps; however, the powers that be with the TriAlliance have been told that a total repeal can never pass because of the financial impact that will be scored by the CBO. We tried that last year and failed miserably. Better to support something that has a chance of passing.
