Have you tried serevent? It really has cut back on the asthma, and it is

peak pollen season here in NM, with the juniper pollens out. >>

Here is the URL for Serevent at RxList.com:

I have been an asthmatic since childhood, but I probably can't help you

because I rarely have a problem with asthma now, as an adult, except when I

am recovering from a virus. The asthma only occurs at that time. I am

probably asthma-free now because I had the desensitization shots every week

throughout my childhood and teenage years. My older brother, however, (not

the one in a-fib) who was not treated for asthma as a child, still has

problems with asthma. I don't see any connection between the asthma and the

a-fib, probably because I have never suffered asthma when I have been in

a-fib. One strange thing is that an asthmatic is not supposed to be able to

tolerate atenolol or other beta blockers, and my cardiologist was very

reluctant to increase my dose of atenolol for that reason. Surprisingly, I

tolerate the atenolol very well and have never been aware that it has caused

asthma for me. I'm not sure this information is helpful except possibly in

affirming that a-fib medications which are supposed to exacerbate asthma do

not always have that effect on an asthmatic.

, I have asthma, but it is well controlled with inhaled steroids and I

don't seem to have any side effects from them. I was diagnosed with AFib

about a year ago and was placed on procanamide, and coumadin. I was already

on atenolol because of a mild heart attack two years ago. At that time I was

taken off theophylline and albuterol tablets, although I now use an

albuterol inhaler if I start to wheeze ( this occurs very rarely. These

medications in tablet form stimulate the heart and work against the atenolol.

I haven't seemed to have any problems doing without them. My Afib is

nowhere near as bad as many on this list (knock on wood!!!) but I don't know

what the future holds of course. If you have other questions I'd be glad to

try to answer them.

Hi from England...................

So glad you made it over here. I have been looking for you and was just

about to send an e-mail your way. I have a brown itchy patch on my back,

but no red blotches and only on my back - it actually looks like I was

branded with the *Paddle* at the time of cardioversion.

I thought you might be interested in knowing that there is another gentlemen

in the Group, who is also on Dofetilide (Tikosyn). Check out Message#103 on

the Board. I think that makes three of us.

I did have a tightness in my chest and back for a while - but they're

disappearing, and I am still in NSR. No other side effects other than

occasional pain around the surgery area. I think my Pacemaker may be

helping the medication work well. It's set at 80 -120 and it is a Dual

Pacemaker controlling two of *something*. I am so goofy when it comes to

understanding all this stuff. I just can't stand talking and listening to

these doctors. I was thinking of taking a tape recorder along with me on my

next visit. That would go over big <g>!

I am so sorry to hear that you're having a bad time.........my prayers and

thoughts are with you.

God bless,

Ellen

Hi Ellen

Finally managed to get on this board. It was quite easy but it seems to take

me some time.

I am still having some periods of AF but I have been told as I was in AF for

18 months my Atria needs to get back into its normal shape.

I need some help on this especially if anybody suffers with Asthma.

My lung have become very itchy so much so I have now take Inhaled steroids.

This give me a tightness in the chest and make my head feel like its going

to explode. It very much like tension.

The strange this is when I go into AF it all goes away...

No wonder the Hospital want to send me for concealing.

Is there any body on the board with asthma I can reflect with.

I am taking 1500 MCr of dofetilde a day. & 50 8am 750 8pm.
