Guest guest
Hi , I think that the tactile issues are why the electric toothbrushes work great with some of our kids, we would give her toothbrush (electric) to use, she really seemed to like the feel of moving it around in her mouth herself....got the idea off the the list I think. We also had them work on brushing teeth at school after lunch, mostly because we felt the more she brushed the sooner she'd get used to the feeling. Seems to have worked. LOL (thankfully, now if only dental work..fillings.. would become easy like the haircuts, toothbrushing and stuff, sigh) Joy I think it's all part of the tactile issue, like the haircuts, washing the face...and the worstest of all......LOTION! Guest guest
Our dentist has a niece with Down syndrome. He says the worse thing we can do is give our children soda - and he knows it was a trend to mix megavitamins with soda to get the kids to take it. is overdue for a visit - was just in myself on Wednesday and they are going to call when they have a cancellation. I told them my big kids always cancel out and they can make their own appointment. Got a call from TJ yesterday with a message " See if the dentist can squeeze me in for a cleaning " ....lol. They got him in for tomorrow morning - then he's off to teach how to skip school to see a movie. Sponge Bob comes out tomorrow - and is looking forward to it. I had planned on taking him, but TJ wants to. I think it would be best for to avoid the large crowd and go for the matinee.

Guest guest
We just took to a movie last weekend as part of her birthday celebration...they had the theatre all fixed up like bikini bottom (that's what that place is called right?) with big spong bob figures all over the place, we had to keep telling mary that no we weren't seeing spongbob, we were going to see hmmm....what is that new Chistmas one, Christmas Express or something like that. She was ok with that, but I think we'll have to go and see Sponge bob now. :-) Since spongebob isn't one of my favorite cartoons i think i'll let jaime and gary take her. hehehe Joy - then he's off to teach how to skip school to see a movie. Guest guest
Yeap, Sponge Bob lives in Bikini Bottom in a pineapple. Those writers must take some good stuff if you know what I mean! went through a stage where he was ripping up his underwear - came from the episode " Ripping my pants " . Lord knows what else he imitates from that yellow sponge and pink starfish. TJ made it home safe and sound. He followed me through the kitchen/garage door and was watching Spongebob (in the kitchen). I asked TJ if he wanted pizza, answered no. I said, You are not TJ -TJ do you want Pizza - again he said no. I said where is TJ and said WVU. By this time, TJ was crouched down behind him and said " , I'm right here " - he turned around and had the biggest smile. They've been buddy buddies ever since. Guest guest
OK my kids have had spinny toothbrushes for a couple years BUT noone ever told me how cool they are! Now um, some days when my wrists or thumbs or fingers are really doing bad, I cannot comb my hair....thank goodness I have 2 teen girls and often they will comb it if I beg. I have made sure to have some elastic waist pants even tho I LOVE jeans, and I have some over the head t shirt dresses, too- the most difficult clothing is bras and socks. (I wear open toed slide in sandals when my feet or hands complain about dealing with shoes) I was a nursing home nurse and shaved my share of people, and brushed their teeth- for quadriplegics..but I had a hard time asking for help brushing my teeth at home, and made do the best I could. WHY did it never occur to me maybe a spinning toothbrush might be helpful? Well, I got one in MY stocking this year and let me tell you- it was GREAT. Oh turning it on was a little hard, but hey I CAN ask for help with that- and I have learned how to put my toothpaste on using my elbows (really) But I never managed to ask for help doing the brushing itself- and the couple times the kids or hubby thought to offer, it just was not a real good brushing job..BUT hey wow! This spinning toothbrush thing REALLY does a nice job and is very gentle on sore fingers wrists and thumbs! YAY! Now, the oter cool gifts I got this year were- a knife you hold with your whole hand, instead of fingers..and a big fat furry stufed dog to lay a swollen wrist or knee upon when it is throbbing and being iced- and a Cabbage Patch DOll to keep me company when I am depressed about having pain, being tired or whatever. (I already had a jar opener and the Gizmo was all sold out-- I had a Cabbage Patch doll years ago, and loved it when I was depressed) Oh and these squishy new pillows- oh they smell weird if you get them close to your face, I think Kohls called them Moshi or something, and the truck stops called them Squish...they are wild pillows - and they support so gently.....I got 2 of those, too. AND some socks- super stretchy super soft, the new super stretchy chenille- some days my fingers just cannot cope with tugging on socks and some days my toes could not cope with me tugging socks over them, but these new stretchy chenille ones are so gently and stretch so easily- and I also got gloves like it, too! (I never wore gloves pre RA, but since RA my fingers and toes tend to get more cold, and when I elet them get cold, they flare worse) FFunny how some of the simplest things really make a difference, and truth is my new socks and gloves are so soft and cushy feeling, even if I did not have RA, they just feel so special. So does the moshi pillows and the Cabbage Patch doll..... I hope you had gentleness for your holiday, and that you felt special, too. I sure did.
