I never had any pain, my muscles just quit and I was half numb from the waist down. Still no pain other than muscle pain either from over use or cramping up. Guest guest
The doctors theory so far is that in one of Eds car accidents he had a spinal cord injury where his cord bled, became tethered and he developed the syrinx. The pain is neuropathic pain and the tethered cord pain and syrinx pain can be very similar. Guest guest
You know, I asked my doctor one time, " if I have tethered cord, syringomyelia, and a spinal arachnoid cyst, and there is clearly nerve damage, and more happening as time goes on, and pain is one of the major symptoms of all of these, why dont I have pain? " Somedays it's hard to consider myself lucky, but, when I really think of all of this logically, I am getting away (so far) with murder. I must have a guardian angel. I have such a low pain tolerance it's awful.. and so far, I have been spared. When I was about 11, or somewhere around that age, I had terrible leg and hip pains. I don't remember when they stopped, but I know nothing helped them. I didn't take drugs for them, as they weren't constant. But when they came, man, they were awful. If my leg would start to hurt in my sleep, i'd wake up almost screaming in pain. I'd put heat on them, squeeze them, try to walk it out.. nothing helped. I don't remember how long each time they would last, all I remember is they were intolerable. If I had to deal with that day in and day out with no break, I think I'd go off the deep end. Guest guest
Hi Kim, I kinda jumped back in here after several months of not being able to keep up with the list, so please spare me if this has already been discussed on the list. Is Ed going to have surgery? Or has he already had surgery? Do you think the syrinx is putting pressure on a nerve(s) and causing the pain? If so, I think surgery to remove the pressure would bring relief. Having a car accident really complicates the situation, where I was not involved in any kind of accident and am structurally sound.
