Guest guest
The TV Show " The Doctors " had on a guest GI yesterday, and a patient who described that she had chronic constipation and had tried all the usual stuff -- over-the-counter laxatives were her words, did not say Miralax -- drank Prune juice, high fiber, she exercices etc. etc. Nothing worked. So the guest GI, I thought very thoroughly described that her constipation was most likely from some other issue, and that all the possibilities should be explored including other major illness like diabetes or cancer. She also talked about two very cutting edge diagnostic procedures, to evaluate whether the constipation was caused by a severally slowed down colon - which is treatable -- http://www.thedoctorstv.com/main/procedure_list/631 and another to assess, if the pelvic floor muscles were not operating properly, inhibiting evacuation. http://www.thedoctorstv.com/main/show_synopsis/508?section=synopsis I've always thought it was ludicrous to prescribe a laxative, if you don't even know why the person is having constipation. And this show described how there were many possibilities to explore.
