Hi everyone, Please forgive, I like to ramble on lately ( in between jobs).

Anyway, can a psc patient truely just have a cold? Think I would know that

by now, but it seems like whenever there is something wrong with , I

panic! He swears that he knows his body well enough. But I see the

bilirubin count in his eyes again. ANy thoughts? Also, any info on cell

cept for pre trans patients? Thanks

Hi! welcome to the group!

Yes, it's certainly possible for a PSC patient to get a cold or flu,

although many of us have noticed that we very rarely get colds. For me,

the main thing that would set bacterial cholangitis apart from a cold,

is that a cold is mainly respiratory, while cholangitis is more

digestive tract related (nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, etc.) It probably

would be difficult to conclusively tell flu apart from cholangitis...

probably best to go in to the doctor if you're not sure... better safe

than sorry.

I while back I had an episode of chills, headache, and vomiting come on

me very suddenly, and then go away again after a few hours. When I told

my doctor about it he was quite concerned, and said if it happened again

I should go straight to the emergency room and tell them that I might

have ascending cholangitis and sepsis. He has also now given me a

standing prescription of Cipro.

Hope this helps!
