The food manufacturers cater to that habit, and subtly but pervasively foster it. (laughing hysterically, because I just typed " fondle it " ). My old joke is that they start us off when we are babies, feeding us sweetened food, then move us over to heavily-sugared cereals and other carby and fatty snacks. I occasionally watch TV now (after years of not missing it), and the food ads sometimes make my jaw drop. They are now promoting pizza thingies you drop into the toaster, like Pop-Tarts. Even 's tomato soup tastes like overcooked-tomato-flavored candy now. It's hard to find grocery store offerings that are not sweetened ... and high-carb. My old joke is that the food manufacturers try to " break us in right " so that eventually, they can serve us candy-flavored mucus and we'll go, " Yummmmm ... " Like the dogs, I no longer eat sweets. I'm rarely tempted because that habit is broken. Since sweets tend to be high-carb, this made more sense to me than searching about for foods that are sweet-but-low-carb. Guest guest
I try to limit my carb counts to 45 grams per meal and one snack of 15 grams per day. No way that I would eat a piece of pie with 50 grams in it. I might, however, have one bite and count it as a carb exchange. Erwin
Guest guest
LOL! that's a good one, Meni. 12 pieces. (Wasn't there someone who wondered how you cut it into 8 pieces? I went back to look, and couldn't find the post.) Anyway -- . It's like my Mom used to say, quoting an uncle of hers: The rule of the table was " Never take more than half the butter.
