Guest guest
, an alternative to Oxycontin is plain oxycodone. That's the active ingredient in Oxycontin but it's released slowly from an Oxycontin pill to provide continuous relief. The delivery in an oxycodone pill is faster but it stays in the blood for around 5 hours. I had a change in insurance about a year ago and found that I couldn't afford Oxycontin so my doctor just changed me over to oxycodone, which is a generic and cheap. I didn't notice any big changes in my neck pain after the switch. My doctor prescribed four 15-mg oxycodone pills a day to replace the three 20- mg Oxycontin pills I was taking. One minor complication was that not too many pharmacies stocked the 15-mg dosage but that can be solved by calling several days ahead so they can order it. I'm back on generic Oxycontin now because that's what my pain doctor wants me to take. wrote: OxyContin is generic now but it's >still over $1.30 per dose at my dose range. > > >
Guest guest
Hi , Have you had TENS treatment yet at PT? If does good for you, your doc can write a Rx for it and it is covered by medicare. I get a lot of relief from mine, heck, I've been using it for 5 years now! Also, there is a thing called 'Nukkles' that does wonders for a deep- tissue massage. I found mine at a Walgreen's for $5.98. My wife just 'goes to town' on my low back once or twice a week- it's every bit as good as having a PT do it. If your PT has given you any exercises/stretches, please keep doing them! They don't always give relief 'right now' but do a lot of good in the long run. Also a hot soak does wonders. I have (finally) dedicated at least one full hour of laying down every afternoon- just to unload the spine, it works wonders, plus I listen to a meditation CD that gives the old grey-cells a rest! It's good to hear from you again. GBY -

Guest guest
Hi , I have had the TENS treatments and for a period of 6 months, I had a portable unit. The P/T unit was much stronger and helped. The portable unit I had worked well, just didn't do that much for me. I'll have to check out the 'Nukkles', sounds like it would be good for the deep muscle relief. I'll have to work it myself but that shouldn't be a problem. I do my lower back exercises reguarly, keeping the muscles toned helps me quit a bit. I try to get a hot soak when I can. There are times I know if I get in the tub, I won't be able to get out. I'd like to have a helper bar but this is just an apartment. I was just thinking. The portable unit I had was an Interferential Generator, the P/T people recommended it. Having CFS/Fibromyalgia, I have a schedule that I try to follow for rest periods. I have a couple meditation cd's, they're very helpful. Thank you for your suggestions . - > Have you had TENS treatment yet at PT?
