Guest guest
My doc insists on the twelve hour ritual, and I seem to start feeling withdrawal some days around hour 10 or 11. However he's been very good about everything else (and that's after a couple bouts with uncooperative pain docs, so I'm generally pretty grateful. I get relief starting around 45 to 60 minutes, some days full effect takes 90 minutes. I take 120 mg twice a day (that's a 40 and 80 mg every twelve hours). It's a good drug if used for what we deal with. My doc told me that for every person that needs and uses it correctly, he's go 20 drug-addicted yay-who's trying to scam him for the buzz. The pharmacists were a bit leery at first, but I've been on it for almost a year, like clockwork, never run out early, etc. I've had some insurance hassles and they've been great helping me work through things in time so I don't run out. I missed a dose one night, started having withdrawal, wondered why was feeling so bad... at 6 a.m. I found the last night's dosage still on the kitchen counter... AARRGGHH!!! > > I've been on Oxycontin since 1998. It definitely works for me.
Guest guest
Hello, I do not post much, but i do read everything. A lot of doctors in the area want my records before they will make an appointment. Is this normal? thanks nichole
Guest guest
Hi , It's normal sometimes, and not at others. If you are being referred to a spec by your PCP, the PCP will forward relevant records. If you are changing doc (PCP) the new one will see you w/o records for a 'new' or 'immediate' problem, but will insist on getting the records from your last PCP. Otherwise, when you contact the new doc, he will ask you to either bring the records with you or have them sent- then schedule appt after they arrive. This is what I've experienced. Guest guest
It is usually customary to visit the doctor first before ordering a tranfer of your medical records. However, with the shortage of doctors in some areas it would appear the doctors are trying to screen patients before accepting them. They may want to screen out people with a lot of medical problems and limit the number of patients on Medicare or Medicaid. It makes their life much easier if they only have to deal with healthy people that just need annual physicals and routine blood work etc. Maybe someone you know could recommend a good doctor and help you get established as a paitent. wrote: > A lot of doctors in the area want my records before they will > make an appointment. Guest guest
I do not know where you live, but I live in Kansas and before this lived in Nebraska and never have I been asked to do that. I have not even heard of someone being asked to do that. So around here it is not normal. Gwen make an appointment. Is this normal? thanks nichole Know someone who could benefit from our list? Guest guest
Hi , Yes doctors always want your records. It is very important information. They know family history, past meds tried etc.... I would be shocked if they didn't ask! susanpaap@... wrote: A lot of doctors in the area want my records before they will make an appointment. Is this normal? Guest guest
I had my son on 1000mg of magnesium citrate for 6 months - then backed off whenever he started having loose stools. Now -- 4 years later -- he takes a 400mg capsule every once in awhile. I believe that the 14 months of miralax -- and maybe even an undiagnosed depletion of magnesium and other minerals had left his body needing it. IMO there is no risk to the dosage that gives bowel results. I also believe that a sustained gluten and diary free diet has been the best thing for him. You know the drill -- whole foods diet, lots of fruits and vegetables. >> Hi everyone! I just have a question about magnesium. Guest guest
Jeanie, he didn't really have any side effects--I had read about it and looked up how much a child (he's almost 8) should be taking and he's taking double---I thought he was fine but then got paranoid after reading a few things, so I moved him down. Shouldn't have done that---paying for it now!):  , what side affects did your child endure? jeanie To: miralax Sent: Wed, November 2, 2011 8:18:41 AM Subject: question  Hi everyone! Guest guest
A little comment on RDA/RDI -- it is really the minimum amount and the way they arrived at the amount listed is amazingly unscientific. I remember my kids pediatrician talking about how low the Vit D amount was -- that it should be changed to about 5 times the listed amount. ... and that was from an MD! This wikipedia about magnesium deficiency and the causes of such lists the many reasons why someone might need magnesium -- anyone want to submit that PEG is another drug that causes it? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hypomagnesemia Additionally, other supplements can help, like B vitamins, Vit D, etc. > > > ** > > > > > > , what side affects did your child endure? > > jeanie > > > > ------------------------------ > > *From:* > > *To:* miralax > > *Sent:* Wed, November 2, 2011 8:18:41 AM > > *Subject:* question > > > > > > > > Hi everyone! Guest guest
, type in side effects and hit search mail. There are many side effects that most don't know about b/c it's not on the label. Once you're read them, MOST, get an ahh...haaa...moment. Guest guest
This is just one of the reasons why the children who took peg end up with the tics, tremors, etc. PEG can deplete magnesium severely Hypomagnesia..............see FDA adverse reactions to see just how many medical professionals have reported these side affects.........sad but true that PEG can cause hyponatremia hypocalcemiahypokalemia hypomagnesia To: miralax Sent: Thu, November 3, 2011 8:50:44 AMSubject: Re: question A little comment on RDA/RDI -- it is really the minimum amount and the way they arrived at the amount listed is amazingly unscientific.
