Guest guest
Dear if you find a good acupuncturist, I think you will find it a great help. He/she must be open to all the pain and nerve sensations that we TCS'ers get, but in terms of pain relief it is wonderful I have been having it for 4.5 months now for another chronic problem, and it is certainly helping me get through the horrid winter months. OK, I still get very bad days, but there are many more good days, or days when the pain and discomfort is not as bad as it could be Good luck Nina Bristol, UK --- Begin Forwarded Message --- Date: Thu, 13 Jan 2005 08:13:29 -0800 (PST) Subject: Re: Recovery Time Sender: Sportolari To: tetheredspinalcord Reply-To: tetheredspinalcord Message-ID: , I was able to be self-sufficient the day I left the hospital 6 days after surgery. I had scary and severe pain getting in and out of bed and up and down into chairs for several weeks (when I hit a certain position it felt like I got 10,000,000 volts shot thru my spine). I did however have my wife by my side throughout - Although she didn't have to do anything special I sure wouldn't have wanted to be alone for the first week or so in case something had happened. By the way, I went back to work 2 weeks to the day after I had surgery. This was a mistake from the point of view that I was in great discomfort sitting at a desk for long periods and just being away from the chance to lay down etc. It was really another couple of weeks before I felt ok, and to this day 9 months later I have problems with numbness etc. that get worse if I sit too long or have to drive or (worse) fly somewhere. I am now scheduled for accupuncture to see if it will help. Good luck, --- wrote: > > Hi folks, > As someone who is 2 - 3 months away from surgery for > a split & tethered > cord - I am very encouraged to hear & 's > slightly less > harrowing stories of recovery. > > How long was it after surgery that you felt you > could be alone? > > > > > On Jan 13, 2005, at 6:36 AM, Foley Meiser > wrote: > > > > > Yes, there is a predominance of 'bad cases' since > there really isn't > > anything to post about in good and excellent > recovery cases :-) > > > > But, I am an almost post 4 month recovery patient > and am back to work, > > walking a mile a day with my dogs, working hard > with my physical > > therapist > > for a goal to run in a 5k race for the 4th of > July!
