Guest guest
----- Forwarded Message ----To: miralax Sent: Fri, March 12, 2010 11:19:13 AMSubject: Re: New to the group and questions about my 5-year old Welcome!for my family, food intolerances and GI dysbiosis (and mercury toxicity) were the major factosr in our underlying issues (for my DS#1: constipation, stool withholding/ retention, irritability, upset stomach, urination issues, reflux, etc). Here's a link to the files section which explains "delayed food allergies" (or, as I often refer to them - "food intolerances" ) and typical (i.e., mainstream doctor recognized) "food allergies." http://tiny. cc/0hIh1Please do not discount the idea of food intolerances based on scratch testing or blood tests, especially if it was done by a mainstream doctor who most likely is not testing for delayed food intolerances. The IgG blood/serum testing is more accurate for food intolerances (if you've had those done) but can still miss some people's intolerances & I believe stool testing via Enterolab to be the most accurate (aside from elimination diet & observing effects - but elimination diets are hard to follow correctly & can be confusing if more than one food is a problem - which is common in these situations)There are quite a few messages in the archives that may be helpful on food intolerance - here are a few (I know the archives can be hard to sift through):http://health. groups.yahoo. com/group/ miralax/message/ 16109http://health. groups.yahoo. com/group/ miralax/message/ 11989http://health. groups.yahoo. com/group/ miralax/message/ 11784The archives also have many messages on helping alleviate constipation/ withholding without using Miralax - and the members of this group have varied approaches & things that are working well for them. Also please see LeeAnn's "What Worked..." document in the files section:http://tiny. cc/qivN1 (this is a link to the beginner's file & her doc is about 2/3 the way down in the list)HTH!!!best,>> Hello,> My 5 year-old has been on Miralax for a little over a year. Several months ago she started to complain tummy ache, most time around breakfast time just after she ate. By the time I sent her to her school she usually was OK. Recently she got a cold and has been kind of "weak" ever since. Some sinus symptoms, very tired and her tummy ache seemed a little worse. She was on antibiotics for a few weeks.> > I always suspected that her tummy ache is related with Miralax she has been taking. Finally I checked it on the net and found this group and some other warnings elsewhere. I don't know if her current sickness is related with Miralax use, antibiotic use, or something else. She was on the generic version. > > She had a blood test done which we are going to find out tomorrow visiting her pediatrician. They checked on her allergies, and general stuff. I'm eager to find it all out. But wondering what I should specific look out for possible Miralax after effects (we already stopped for a couple of days), tests can be taken and questions to ask dr. > > We are trying different ways for her constipation problems. But right now I'm most concerned is getting her healthy. Her complexion is dull and her tummy very sensitive. And she is not nearly energetic as she used to be. Any advice and suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I know it could be unrelated but certainly a possibility.>
