Guest guest
Hi , I am new here but have been seeing your frustrating posts about nobody seeming to know or find out what is the matter. If I were you I would go see a DO which is a dr of osteopathy. He might be more willing to schedule you for tests to see what is the matter. I regards to your numbness. Yes a stroke can cause those symptoms but also any kind of injury to your spinal cord or even pressure on the cord can cause this. I have a problem mainlt with the C8 through L1 areas of the spine yet some my numbness and tingleing are in places that don't make sense to the doctors. I also have had repeated episode of autonomic dysreflexia which do nor coorelate to my spinal injury levels but they happen. The doctors I see have come to resign themselves to the fact that my symptoms are all spinal related, even the temperature change from my upper arms to my wrist does not make sense to them even though they have measured a 2 degree change between my shoulder and my elbow and then back up again at the wrist it goes back up 2 degrees. Sometimes we baffle the docs and instead of them telling us they start to disbelive you and say that these things are not happeneing to you. STand your ground and demand that they do testing on you to check out your symptoms more clearly. You can ask for blood work that is relatively inexpensive which would includ a SED RATE and a C- REACTIVE PROTEIN test to see if the inflamation in your body is showing up in your blood work. Then they can go from there. Your best bet is to change doctors. Unless you can convince yours to start letting you be involved in your own care. I always make sure to tell the places where I am going for the tests to fax them to my fax number, SOme of them believe they are faxing them to another doctor but most just go ahead and do it after they have a signed consent. they are your records and your results you should not have to wait this long to find out what is going on. Good luck. Christi
