the

bacon & egg on my 5 times a week salad so they're gone... Had lost 1

pound...

My numbers were:

October '99: 202 - 47 HDL - 124 LDL -154 TRI - 4.30 C/HDL - 2.64 L/H

February '00: 213 - 63 HDL - 135 LDL - 76 TRI - 3.38 C/HDL - 2.14 L/H

A1C: October was 5.7, February was 5.3 >>

, your total cholesterol climbed only 11 points, but that was more than

explained by the very-healthy 16-point improvement in your HDL. Since your

LDL also climbed 11 points, that must mean that the worrisome VLDL must have

been cut in half - from 31 to 15. Although we tend to think of keeping our

triglycerides as well as total cholesterol below 200, a recent longevity

study showed those with total cholesterol between 170 and 220 did the best.

It wasn't until 18 months that my numbers had finally nudged to where I want

them.

Your triglycerides are incredible! A reading of 76 surely wouldn't provoke

me to give up the bacon and eggs. Your HDL into your total cholesterol is an

enviable 3.38 - a 25% improvement. And your 5.3 HbA1c should be shouted from

the rooftops!

Congratulations!

Susie :o)

I don't eat bacon either. Maybe to satisfy your taste buds, you could try

imitation bacon bits:

serving size - 1 Tbsp.

calories - 30

total fat - 1 gram

total carbohydrate - 2 grams

dietary fiber - 1 gram

protein - 3 grams

calcium - 2%

iron - 2%

Thanks Susie,

I was pretty happy about the 76 and the 5.3 A1C. The only number he was

concerned about was the 135 LDL.

He said the 5.3 qualifies me as a poster person for managing T-2.

He also said I didn't need to do 7 days a week on the treadmill, that 4-5 would

be fine. I told him I didn't have the self discipline to take days off...and

that it helped me control my weight.

Thanks,
