Guest guest
Hi Bob and Everyone: Bob - My thoughts, prayers and good wishes go out to you.........so very sorry to hear about your latest episode. Hang in there! I've been out of commission for a while with compressions fractures of the back (nothing related to the AFib). To answer a few of your questions - yes, I am still in NSR on Tikosyn/Dofetilide and , I have been so since October 10th, 2000 (after a history of permanent AFib). On February 10th, I will have been in NSR for four (4) months. Unfortunately, I haven't been enjoying my new found rhythm - because of severe back pains and yet more medication. One thing I know for sure, stress, anxiety, tension and depression does not seem to hamper the goal of Tikosyn's. It keeps working through thick and thin. I sure do hope I'm not jinxing myself. I think I would really go off the deep end if I had to deal with both AFib and back fractures at the same time. In my opinion, Tikosyn has been a wonder drug (if there is such a thing) and I have had NO side effects. However, I have been reminded by my EP at Duke that there is no guarantee that I will stay in NSR - at some point in time, I may go in and out or I may again go back to permanent Afib - but for now I am a happy *heart* camper <g>. The back is something else and I won't go into that right now. There are a few other members of our Group on Tikosyn - and again, because of my absence, I'm not too sure just how they are doing. With this post, I invite their comments. As you may or may not be aware, Tikosyn is only available to those Physicians who have been trained in its proper use and the patient must be hospitalized and monitored at the onset of the initial therapy. Pfizer is the manufacturer of Tikosyn/Dofetilide. They have a great " Safety " Department and a very useful Pharmacy Department. For more information about this drug you can call Pfizer at 1. They are extremely courteous and helpful. It also may help you and our members to know that Pfizer has a *Tikosyn Prescription Assistance Program*. It's worth a try to call and see if you are eligible to receive this drug *FREE*! BTW, if you are on any drug that you are paying for, most Companies have some sort of financial help if you are in need of same. Bob - as for your inquiry about Yahoo, because of my back problems, I was out of the loop when the Yahoo thingamajig was going on. You might want to log onto the Board and read some of the many previous messages about merge between Yahoo and eGroups and just how to use the new system. I do know that you must register with Yahoo and go from there. They will ask you for a User Id Name and Password and then follow their instructions. If this doesn't work, check in with our *Computer Wizard* bobbyr@.... I would be interested in knowing what you decide to do about Tikosyn. It took me a while to decide. Oh, yes and one more thing, you must be extremely careful what you are taking as far as over the counter medications are concerned and some of your other prescription drugs. Again, the Pharmacy and Safety Department at Tikosyn is very informative and your own physicians will assist you. Good luck in your decision and let me know. Guest guest
I am so happy for you. I hope you stay in sinus rhythm forever. It feels so good when your heart is beating normally. I tried Tikosyn but it didn't work for me. I was on it for 4 days and had some problems and the Dr. decided it wasn't working. I was just wondering if I had tested it long enough or not. Guest guest
Hi Hank: In response to your inquiry, I was admitted to Duke Medical Center on October 9th, 2000 and started Tikosyn on October 10th. I went into NSR after the *second* dose the evening of the 10th.....and have been in NSR since.
