Guest guest
, I'm so sorry to hear this. It's funny as I've been having mini strokes this week. They call them TIA's. I'm awaiting more testing to see what is causing them. I hope you are feeling better and not much damage was done. Guest guest
Tommie, i can't even imagine! i mean my older sister had seizures when she was a baby and those were scary. so a stroke must just be terrifying. i certainly hope they go away soon. keep me posted on that. aside from that how are you feeling? <3 Hannah Beth TX ________________________________ To: Hugs-N-Pain Sent: Thursday, May 28, 2009 2:28:05 PM Subject: Re: HI All Thank you Hannah Beth, I do appreciate it. Guest guest
Hi Hannah, Aside from the strokes, I'm doing ok. I didn't even know I was having them. My son came in my bedroom Monday morning and said " Mom your right eye looks crazy " . It was turned out to the side. Then it came back in and my facial tissue around my eye was sagging, but it all went away after a while, then it would act up again. Finally I called my doc on Tuesday when it kept happening. It scared me. But I didn't really feel anything thank God. I hope they don't come back. So far nothing more has happened since Wednesday. Guest guest
I used to be substance abuse councilor and a lot of them have learned to use drugs of abuse medically.  Painers just don't take them to " Feel Good " ...hell...just reducing pain is feels good never mind a " high " . Hang with the support.  Who needs that hell again. I think everything on my body hurts. I hurt my back 2 times and this time it just started on it's on. I saw a surgeon who is doing more tests to determine if it's surgical or just a block needed. In the meantime I have spasms and pain that I can't deal with. I have pain meds and muscle relaxant that helped and now seems to be like water. I have a trip upcoming and don't know what to do. I do have the option of taking 2 pain pills, but also have had drug problem in the past. I have been very causious and have had a close contact with my sponsor, groups, my therpist, and Jesus Christ who has helped me through so far. I wanted to ask if there was any other ways to relieve pain that has worked for anyone else. Thanks for listening. Charlene
Guest guest
Hi Charlene, Thanks for sharing your story and I wanted to tell you about something that helps with my pain that you may find helpful too. About a year ago, I was issued a TENS (transcutaneous nerve stimulation) unit, by the VA rehab clinic, which has been a lifesaver when the meds do nothing for me. Because I am still awaiting some procedures on my back (remainder of a radiofrequency ablation) and a possible second revision to a total knee replacement, she is a little reluctant to prescribe longer acting medication, so know as for the opiates, I have tramadol and oxycodone...which I joke with my friends that I probably would do better with some Tic Tacs for all the pain relief that I am getting from them. So on the days that the pain outweighs the pain meds...which lately it has been everyday, I will " hook myself up " to the Tens unit and electrocute myself for awhile. I'm just kidding when I made that last statement, but I find humor definitely helps in dealing with this pain situation...certainly keeps me from crying. Hope you can find a doctor that can help you gain access to a unit. I think it would be very helpful.
