Between MS and the spinal injury, it would be quite likely that the man would need a large dose of narcotics. Multiple Sclerosis can cause hideous, hideous pain. The body is able to adjust to as high a dose of morphine, for example, as it needs to relieve the pain. It is a gradual increase in doseage, and has nothing to do with addiction, or even habituation. The reason he was taking so many pills each day is that they only come in a certain dose. I have heard of this man's plight before, he didn't have a morphine pump, because he couldn't afford it. Now the state has paid to put one in. It would have been wiser for him to stay in New Jersey, where his prescribing physician was located. Different areas here in the US have different laws and ideas about narcotics. It was not wise for the physician to send undated prescriptions. I'm quite sure they threatened the physician with revoking his license. Here is a link to the 60 Minutes program from yesterday. For those who don't live here in the US, 60 Minutes is an investigative news program, that's on every Sunday evening. http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2006/01/25/60minutes/main1238202.shtml Kaylene Moderator Moderator __________________________________________________
Guest guest
Or that the doc brought up 2 older ladies taking 1 gm of morphine. Hw pointed out this would kill most ppl, but they developed a tolerance for it, which was far from a crime. Now, if we could only get more showss like that.....
